New pictures of little Riley

Riley is looking cute as ever. He is changing so fast right now. I feel like looks different everyday. He is really picking up a lot of the attributes from both his parents very nicely. Looks like the dad, but his head is a bit more defined from the mom. I have been helping him build muscle for his left ear(use to sit flat on his head), and now it is sitting up nice. I am thinking of taking some agility classes with him this spring just to have some fun with him. He really has an interest to try things, and is outgoing personality is going to be a blast this year.

I went to a different petstore yesterday(one he has never been to), and he loved it. Put on his typical full body wag for everyone he met. I am also very proud of him. We have been working on polite greetings, and he no longer tries to jump on people. What works best is having people pet him under his chin instead of on top of his head. That simple thing works wonders.

Alright here are his new pictures.

He barked right after this, can you tell it was coming?

A few more coming

Drying off from playing in the snow

This is probably the most serious I have ever seen him look.

And these two pictures are video stills. I liked them though.

Thanks for looking

His hair is really starting to get long and it makes him look like a big boy. Isn't it funny, you put them to bed at night a puppy and when they get up in the morning they are a dog. It is amazing because I can truly see changes every day. I know you can too with Riley.

Re: New pictures of little Riley

His hair is finally starting to get long. If you lift his collar on his back you can see how much it has grown for his mane covers more and more of his back. I can't wait until his full coat comes in.

You said it best, you put them to bed as pups and they wake up dogs! I am sure you are waiting for your Carsten to start looking all grown up. Guessing by the last picture you took of him with your other dog eating, you don't have much waiting to do. He already looks built like a tank!

Gosh, what a cutie! I was expecting to see more pictures of him being really little like in your avatar, but I opened the thread and saw a big boy!! It's amazing how fast they grow!

When does a rough collie get their full coat? I know Zoe might not have her full coat until she's 2 or even 3 years old...seems like Riley's is coming in much faster though.

Re: New pictures of little Riley

Mr. Pooch- Thank you!

Sugar Daddy- I don't think Riley needs more reasons to flaunt himself!

Chubbies- I think their noses are cute too!

Friendsofzoe-I have a tendency to call everyone 'little' before their name.

Rough collies all grow differently, it all depends on genetics. Riley is actually a bit slow compared to other collies his age out there(you should have seen my neighbors collie at 6 months, the guy was incredible). However, both parents have really nice coats, just slow growers. He is just like Aspen was at his age. She didn't get her full coat until 16 months-24 months(really her second year I noticed how long and thick her coat turned out). It took a few seasons. However, as mentioned above, some collies get their coats in much faster.

This is the kind of coat is father has:

His mother also had a nice coat. Not as long, but females naturally have shorter hair then males.

Zoe is probably the same, a bit slow to come into her full coat, but in the end will have a very nice one.
