Re: They Sit Nice For Mommy

No worries. I share the same sentiments. Food and toys are just about the most important things in a dog's life.

How big is UALLIS neck? Cain & Abel's 21 inch collar are now just one more hole away from being thrown out. I am also thinking of getting them new collars that hopefully will last longer than the one they are currently wearing, which we got just before they turned 6 months (just 3 months ago! They used to wear those cheap nylon collars.) and now, $180 later for the 2 spikey leather collars, we need new ones!!! I cant believe it.

Re: They Sit Nice For Mommy

Snoopy has had the same 8" or 12" collar since he was a puppy, plus I think its a cat collar.

Mdawn, finding toys and collars for uallis is like finding shoes that fit me. The only place that has my size of shoes is shoe carnival but they don't have any sizes above the one I wear now and the shoes are starting to get tight. If I want new shoes I have to go online as I wear 15's and I'll probably need 16's soon.

His neck last time I measured a few weeks ago was 25 inches. The collar he has now is extended as far as it will go just about. The biggest ones I can find in stores are 26 inches. He still has some growing and filling out to do so he needs one that will allow for some more growth.

Re: They Sit Nice For Mommy

UALLIS needs customize collars Well, not too many dogs have necks like that. You will always have to pay extra for making everything supersized! Poor UALLIS!

Just get a human belt, it may be ugly but it would work.

Re: They Sit Nice For Mommy

Fancy looking belts are way cheaper than the plain looking collars. I dont know why, but that might solve the problem for UALLIS. A nice looking leather belt.

We've actually thought about that Durb. We would need to attach a loop or something to it though to clip his leash on. I've also read somewhere about getting calf collars to put on Mastiffs. I still have to check into that. But if worse comes to worse we will have to just use a belt. I can't afford to pay $50-$60 for a collar big enough to fit him. Well, I COULD pay it, but I'm not going to pay it is a better way of putting it. LOL!!! IMO, it's a ripoff.

Mudra, my boyfriend would like nothing more than to put a spiky collar on Uallis if I'd let him! I think with Uallis it'd just look...silly. But I love the way it looks on your two. It definitely suits them! For their next collar, are you going to go with spikes again?

Re: They Sit Nice For Mommy

MDAWN, If I can help it, NO. It was my husband's idea to get them those spikey collars. I did not approve of it, but he was very determined to buy them. He said he is so tired of seeing them playbite each other's neck and that he's scared that one day they will accidentally hurt each other. Which I doubt, but whatever. So he bought those spikey collars, which according to him, is protection. Well, they did stop biting each other's neck, but now they started biting each other everywhere! Drives me nuts. But IMO, the real reason he bought those collars is for FASHION PURPOSES. He wanted them to look MANLY.

When they were puppies I bought them a half inch wide nylon collars, they wore it until they were about 5 months. It was cheap, but ok looking. They are just plain blue (Cain) and plain red (Abel). And they were just about $15-$20 so I was very happy with the price. The Spikey collars, were $90 each. I almost died of shock when I learned how much they costs. I had a long "talk" with my husband about it. He just sat there looking like a puppy, so I just shut up. And they look nice somewhat so I just went with it.

UALLIS dont need SPIKEY COLLARS!!! He's scary enough as it is. GIANT and HUGE. Spikey collars will just make him more scary looking.

I agree that he doesn't need it...he wouldn't be able to pull it off like Cain and Abel...

Every time I see a picture of them, I'm always amazed with how adorable they are...I know I say that every time but its true. I want a pair just like them!

Re: They Sit Nice For Mommy

LOL! What kind of collar is UALLIS wearing now? I feel bad for the poor dog not being able to have a fashionably looking collar just because of his size, I wonder why they only make tiny studded collars for the teeny tinny doggies. Sometimes, I feel descriminated as well when we go to petshops and find outfits that is only big enough for a chihuahua.. I remember when we went shopping for halloween costumes for the dogs, the biggest size was just big enough to fit a beagle. We looked and looked and finally had to settle for a kids costume. Cain ended up wearing Tigger and Abel as Winnie the Poo, but before that they wore Eeyore and ELMO.

I am guessing those boots that they are selling for dogs will only fit UALLIS toe and not his entire foot.

He's wearing a nylon collar now. He hasn't outgrown it yet but will shortly. I've extended it out as far as I can...

I remember seeing those pictures of the dogs in their costumes...LOL!!

Is it hard to walk UALLIS? Is he trained to heel? I cant imagine walking a big dog like that, Im afraid I dont have enough weight to control him.

Re: They Sit Nice For Mommy

Uallis walks good on leash...he'll stay right beside me for the most part. He responds really well to any tension of the leash and will stop for the most part.

If he wasn't good on leash, I wouldn't be able to stop him if he pulled. I know that one night I took him out to potty on leash and he got scared at a noise and ran back to the house. I had to run along with him or else be dragged on my face because he wasn't going to stop for anything. That doesn't happen very often...he's usually very good. I think my boyfriend and I combined could stop him if necessary. I don't really walk him in town alone, there is always someone with me...either my bf or my sister. It's more fun to walk with someone else and its an added precaution to stop him if we had too.

Re: They Sit Nice For Mommy

Oh I bet its fun to not walk just by yourself, especially if you are walking a huge dog!!! I will be very scared to walk him by himself. Just from walking a 70+lbs dog, I already feel like my bones are shattering into pieces everytime he pulls! I once braved walking both dogs (Cain & Abel) and I swear never to do it again. They saw two bunny rabbits that ran toward two different direction and they both want to chase them, one pulling to the right, one to the left. I thought my body was going to split in half.

Do you walk UALLIS and EDDIE at the same time?

Re: They Sit Nice For Mommy

No, I don't for many reasons. Eddie needs a longer walk than Uallis, I can't take Uallis for really long walks...vet orders. If something would happen, they'd decide to chase something or whatever I'd need all hands available to stop Uallis. If Eddie was with us, the other person would be tied up with him and wouldn't be able to help much. Also, I like the one on one time with each of them. I think that they deserve it too. I usually take each to the park once a week. I'll take Eddie one day and Uallis the next or whatever. I also take walks with them up and down the road close to my house. However, I do walk with both if we are just staying on our property. But they are both off leash then and I have a bag of treats of some sort that I rattle to get them to return to me. Works like a charm!

Re: They Sit Nice For Mommy

Isn't it amazing how they can hear food/treats rattling from their bowl but they can't hear you when you simply say "COME"???

It always amaze me, when in the evening, before I feed them I let them out in the yard. I will usually call them before I put their food on their respective bowls. But most of the time when they are having fun chasing each other, they ignore me!!! But once I start pouring their food, SURPRISE!!! They are both banging on the door miliseconds later.
