| Our new hound with pics We are now a proper Basset pack! We got Margot a couple weeks ago (we are now 3 hounds). She is kinda a rescue.A friend of ours had her and wanted to show and then breed her but she wasn't shaping up to the anticipated show quality so had to let her go...so she's ours! She's 7 months.

| Re: Our new hound Awesome pics! But that is horrible that they would get rid of the dog just because it can't be shown. |

Margot is not big or wrinkly enough (I wish that was our criteria for beauty lol )

In any case, she sure is a cutie! |

| Re: Our new hound Some of the best family pets I've met were show dogs that didn't quite make the cut. The owner takes the responsibility to place them in a loving environment and the dog lives happily ever after.
Congratulations, Tamara. She's a beauty. |

Why do you think breeder sell the pet quality dogs? Or rehome some of their older animals once they are done showing? It would be impossible for someone to keep all the dogs and you can take a look at almost any show breeder and see that they follow the same practices.

| Re: Our new hound It would be terrible if they just dumped the dog, but somehow I don't think going to live with Tamara and her other hounds would be such a bad life. |

| Re: Our new hound Awesome!! Your bassets are adorable! I'm jealous that you get to have 3!
I have a 5 month old basset puppy.. I grew up with two when I was younger, now that my wife and I wanted to get a dog the basset was an obvious choice: |

| Re: Our new hound That is so cute. I love the last photo of the Basset Parade. They have the most soulful expressions. They look to be quite happy with each other as well. |
