Re: I like to move it, move it

Snoopy is very cute, he seems very happy go lucky.

Might I make a suggestion?
I'd pick up the very large areas of paper you have down for him and give him just one small area to go to, to go potty on. What i noticed was him playing right on areas with pee stains. You want to teach him to eliminate in one area and to be clean. Puppies of his age won't normally choose to play or eat in areas where they've eliminated so teaching him to use a much smaller spot is actually what paper training is all about. With his entire available area covered in paper he's really learning nothing other than to just go wherever whenever.

Re: I like to move it, move it

Alright. I'll remove the paper on the right side of the room as he seems to only go on the right hand side then I'll slowly keep it to one area. The reason I cover the whole area is because our landlord will make us get rid of snoopy if our apartment has pee and poop stains on the carpet. I know to use natures miracle but I don't know if it would remove the stain. Another reason why I haven't made the area smaller sooner is because I was going to start housetraining him to go outside once he gets his booster shots on the 30th.

Hope you liked the video!

Re: I like to move it, move it

I know if cleaned up right away it does get rid of poop stains, it will also get rid of pee smells, but on lighter colored carpets I have had a bit of staining. Unfortunately part of either potty training outside or paper training inside is the occasional accident. That said you can certainely minimize the incidence of them by not letting him run around loose till he's already gone potty on the paper, and then only for maybe 30 min. or so(you'd have a better idea of how frequently he pees than I), then back to the papers. If the papers are a no go, crate for a bit, then try again. Hey this puppy raising business is work ya know

Edit: yes, the video was neat, I have a long way to go with my electronic skills LOL

Resolve works also... if cleaned up right away it doesnt leave a stain or anything.

I clean my carpet with a carpet cleaning machine about every 6 months or so.. that helps also.

Thats alot of pee lol bet your house has a nice smell to it =)

Re: I like to move it, move it

If he understands to go on paper, you just make the area a little smaller each day and he will head back to the paper to go. Then when you begin to train him to go outside you may need to move the paper outside at first. With a little dog it takes them longer to hold it longer. With Lilly 1/2 her crate was paper and she walked thru a little doorway to her bed and toys. When we were home no paper was available and I took her out every hour, then ever 2 etc... and made such a big deal about "yard potty" with belly rub, excitement and treats that she started to understand and no longer used the paper but waited for me if she could. By 4 months she no longer had paper but her max hold time was 4-5 hours. Also, I have used nature's miracle on very light carpet and showed no stains. Oxy clean works wonders to get out stains of color as well.
