Plays anyone?

I just got tickets to Wicked this June and I'm thrilled. I can't wait. I am such a Broadway fanatic, it's not even funny. I only got to see two this year- Aida and Hairspray. Hairspray was wonderful. But I can definitely say Wicked is the broadway that I'm most excited to see since I went to see The Lion King almost 4 years ago.

Has anyone seen it? I've read the book and have the soundtrack. I'm so excited.

It's nice because this way I know for sure I get to see something good. OPAS (the on campus theater stuff) had a huge list of Broadways for next year and I bet they'll bring a couple. They announce which ones are playing on campus on the 19th. Some of the choices were Rent, Mamma Mia, and the Producers. If I get to see Rent and Wicked in the same year, I'll be ecstatic. I think Rent has a pretty good chance of coming because it is so popular with my age and on campus. They showed the movie at the theater on campus last year. The only issue is that it showed here 3 years ago... the year before I got here. Go figure. If it's not showing this year, it will hopefully in the next year or two, preferably while I'm still here. At least if it doesn't come I definitely get to see Wicked. These are all off-broadway tours of course.

It sounds like a promising theater year.

So what have you all seen? Got any recommendations?

Re: Plays anyone?

I really want to see Wicked and was planning on it hopefully sometime this year. Your so lucky! Umm, Beaty and the Beast is really good, saw that in New York. I went to see that one with Screwdge(sp? sorry no idea how to spell that, it's just a wierd name.), the guy that says Humbug all the time... that one was really really good. I'm going to see Disney on Ice the next time they're doing it and I saw a couple others as a child that I really loved but can't remember. I LOVE musicals
I would really recomend trying to go see Beauty and the Beast if you can though, it's VERY good.

Re: Plays anyone?

WICKED??!?!??!! I have never seen that play, but I WANT TO SOOO BAD! I have the soundtrack, so I can basically see the plot, but it's not like seeing the real thing. But from what I've seen on youtube videos and from the soundtrack, it looks VERY good.

The only REAL Broadway play I have ever seen, (Other than the adapted versions) is Lion King. Jaylie went with me to that actually...I don't think she liked it though...she fell asleep and only woke up so I could take her potty during intermission. Lol! I've seen a ton of other adapted broadway plays at little community theatres...Those are pretty cool though. My brother LOVES working on stagecrew. He was one of the techies to a couple of plays last year.

Well, congrats on getting those tickets, I'm so jealous!!! I want to go next time they come to hollywood.

Exclamation Omg!

LUCKY LUCKY PERSON! I have wanted to see Wicked for a long time! One of my friends went to go see it and she said it was an awsome show. I do alot of SYT's (Summer Youth Theaters), and I hope some time we can do Wicked. My first year we did Annie Jr., then this last year we did Music Man Jr., and this year will be Cinderella Jr. I have done more as a tiny little kid such as The King's New Clothes and such. But we've never really quite done something as cool as Wicked.

I have seen different shows like Big River, and Jackle and Hide (i forget how the splet "hide") And those are the only ones of the top of my head I can remember seeing. But I like theatrics.

Re: Plays anyone?

The only thing I know about Wicked is that we're playing the music in orchestra class. It's a bit weird sounding to us who are used to classical music.
