Are you guys ALWAYS here??

It seems like EVERYTIME I come on this forum the same people are ALWAYS on! Im on spring break right now but come this Tuesday (April 3) I wont be on here so often. I just want to know how you all are always on here?

I hope its not a temporary thing because the more people on here the busyier this forum is (which is a GOOD thing!).

If you had seen what a troll attempted to do this afternoon, you would be in favor of parental controls. What's wrong is that none exist to my knowledge, however, parents really should be monitoring what their children do on the internet.

Have you seen the Datline show "To Catch a Predator?" Well, those predators are caught on Messenger. And if you were my daughter, you wouldn't be participating in this forum unless I was with you, becuase if you saw the images I saw this afternoon, a parent needs to be there to explain them to you. I'm not blaming you for anything, or telling you how to spend your time. But in my opinion, young kids need to be careful, and they should not be on the internet alone, especially without parental controls.

I totally agree with that. My younger sister is a crazy 15 year old and if anyone trys to watch her on the computer she yells at us to get away and I always tell her the only reason someone would not want to be watched is because they are doing something wrong....which she always is (mostly just talking to her friends with frequent swear words....which of course shes not allowed to use). But I think parental controls are good, but I think its equally important that the kids can recognize a bad situation and that they DO NOT give out personal information such as their address, phone number, stuff like that. Could you say what this troll attempted to do? I understand if you can't say.

I can't be specific without being graphic, but it would have been rated "XXX", if you know what I mean.

Re: Are you guys ALWAYS here??

SHL12 and Kittty,
There are some SICK people out there! I've made my kids watch the show Curb mentioned every time it caome on with a new episode. You wouldn't believe the 'types' of people that get busted soliciting a minor. I've seen military officers, Rabbi's, Preists, Police Officers, Teachers, and well, people from every walk of life that have been caught in these stings.

My older daughters have MySpaces, as do I. I am their #1 Friend and my Husband is their #2. Their profiles are set to 'private' (you have to know their last name of email address to even send them a message or friend request) and they have to approve ALL comments before they get posted on the board. They are 15 (twins) and I monitor every minute they are on on the computer at home. Still, at times the sickos get through. They know what to do and report them. Oh, I also know their log ons and pass words so I can check on things too, otherwise, they would have their accounts cancelled.

Re: Are you guys ALWAYS here??

I would not let my daughters on this forum with out me monitering either. The really can not handle a conversation with an adult or should I say debate properly and would end up in tears when all is said and done. They will cry enough in real life situations with kids their own age. I do not feel they should jump into a world with mostly adults.

They play on this one site with these Webkins stuffed animals. IT is very safe and cute too!
