| Re: Scared..and very..very hurt So I dropped my resume off at a local pet store and he already asked my availability. He seemed interested in that I'm available all day and I have experience working with animals as well as some breed knowledge so crossing my fingers I'll be getting a phone call! |

I KNOW that noon is 12:00
BUT I WAS CONFUSED BECAUSE OUR SHIFTS WERE CALLED "AM" AND "PM" AND PILLS ARE GIVEN AT MEALTIMES!!!
So one meal is at "AM" at 7:00 and the other is at "PM" at 3:00 so excuse me for confusing PM for 3:00 when the medication card said "Medicate at noon."
your stupid shit can stop now because you are NOT funny. |

ETA: Above was sort of a joke. I have worked at McDonalds and i know they would hire a monkey to flip burgers, but it really does say something when even a little job that doesnt pay much ISNT hiring. (I worked there back in 99 and made $5.10/hr)

It adds an extra string when the only best friend I had is the one who back-stabbed me over a minor misunderstanding. |

| Re: Scared..and very..very hurt I can tell you from experience that, while you may think it was this one incident, it most likely wasn't. It may have just been intangible things that they couldn't really put into words, and this one incident gave them a tangible reason for firing.
Like we had one sales guy here who was really slow. He spoke slow, he walked slow, and in our industry that's a big problem. While we do phone based customer service, the people we sell to want answers quick. Where most of us were doing 20-30 quotes and 20-30 orders a day, he was in the 10-15 quotes and 5-10 orders range. That's tough to put into words as a boss. You can't ask him to please not be slow, it's just his nature. He ended up getting fired when a customer complained about him. We all get complaints. I've personally had dozens. It's the nature of being in customer service. That one customer complaint, though, gave our boss a tangible reason to fire the guy without having to get into the other stuff. I'm sure the guy thinks he was fired because he had one complaint, when the reality is that he was fired over the other stuff and the one complaint just gave our boss a "reason" to finally do it.
Giving a medication at the wrong time can have really serious implications for the Boarding Kennel. I know the medication wasn't actually given, but it was just a stroke of luck that stopped it. I'm guessing, though, if there weren't other things playing into the firing, they'd have just warned you or restricted you from giving medication.
I know this doesn't help much, but I thought it might help you to understand that it's probably not this one mistake. It could have been anything. You probably had a boss that was just waiting for that one screwup so he/she could act.
Good luck finding a job where you feel comfortable and can succeed. If it's one thing I've learned from the two times I've been fired, it's that sometimes it works out much better in the end. If I hadn't have been fired the second time. I'd probably still be there toiling away in a job I hated, making half of what I make now. |

| Re: Scared..and very..very hurt I do not know how old you are MS Heart. You sound very young. I also do not know what this "auto-drive" thing is you are talking about.. if it is a disability or some other issue.
I know that it is the best advice in the world to keep FRIENDS and CO-WORKERS separate. Do not let the two cross over brecause it can cost you a friend and a co worker at the same time. It also can lead to the lesson you just learned.
I suspect there is more to this and you were not told. I did not tell someone I fired why.. and mostly they were fired in the first 6 months of employment.
I had a farm so it was not like I was asking anyone to bend light. I did want someone who was interested in the cows and interested in taking care of them and who would make me money. As much as I loved my farm and the animals, it was a business.
I can tell you why I fired ppl:
1.) slacking off. No outward signs of ambition. Lying and saying something was done when it was not.
2.) Not learning or refusal to learn. There is a lot to know on a farm. I do not mind repeating instructions for a couple of times.. or if there is a LOT for a week.. or repeating if it is a task done rarely.. but when I had to give the same instructions every day for the same simple task, the employee was not up to the job (either by lack of ability or lack of desire.. the result was the same).
3.) No growth in the job. There is a LOT to running a dairy farm.. from machinery to cattle and there is a huge amount to learn. Employees who only did what they were told, never asked questions and did not expand their usefulness and knowledge either got fired or were not given raises or were replaced as soon as better talent showed up.
4.) Employees who cost money to have. These were people who put an antibiotic cow in the tank, even tho the cow was clealy marked, casuing me to dump the entire tank of milk. Happens once? Maybe a mistake. Happens second time.. I had to fire them. The loss was just too great. Other errors were running equipment rough (even after warning), doing anything to damage a cow, or stealing either items, time or both.
5.) Repeated unplanned absence and tardiness.
I am not saying you have done any of the things that caused me to have to let someone go. I am just saying a job is more than a paycheck.
Think about this when someone interviews you. What can you do for them that will make them money? Why should they hire you? I have been asked BOTH those questions at interviews. Because I had those answers I was usually offered the job.
At an interview, at the end, ASK for the job if you want it. Interviews are like being a salesman.. only you are selling YOU to this future employer.
Never turn a job down until it is offered to you and you have elected not to take it. Never short circuit and call and say, "I have changed me mind.. and I do not want to work for you" BEFORE they have asked you to work for them.
Last, but not least, after an interview ALWAYS send a hand written note to the interviewer for taking the time to consider you for the job. Three sentences. Dear so and so: Thank you for taking the time to interview me for the position of XYZ. I would like the opportunity to work for QRW company. Thank you again. Sincerely, MSHeart (and be sure to wirte your full name and your phone number is under it). WRITE LEGIBLY.
If you apply for a job on line, be sure to stop at the store about 4 days later and ask if they received your application and if they filled the job and if not, let them know you are very interested.
Good luck.
