| Trip to the Wildlife Park [Pic Heavy] Hey all,
I took a trip up to one of our local wildlife parks recently and figured I'd share the pictures that were taken. Some of them are really bad/grainy because I don't have a professional camera and had to zoom WAY in so you'll just have to ignore that lol.
At the park, all the carnivores/predators are kept in spacious (separate) enclosures while the herbivores/prey animals are given the rest of the land to roam free. You then ride a tram through the area with a guide that points out animals, shares info, etc. The park is also heavily involved in conservation both environmentally and with endangered species. It's all pretty cool, I always enjoy visiting.
Anyway, pictures!

Coyotes -
These guys were actually really cool. I wish they'd been closer and I'd been able to get a better shot. There was a scrap bone between them and they were doing all kinds of dominance/submissive moves. It was very neat to see

All the birds at the park were previously wild but were injured at sometime in their lives. They are unable to be re-released.

It's a lot of land too (723 acres) so even the carnivores get a lot of moving room in their areas. Quote:

| Re: Trip to the Wildlife Park [Pic Heavy] Awesome pictures. The skunk is actually pretty.. never thought I'd say that about a skunk. Her coat is super shiny.

| Re: Trip to the Wildlife Park [Pic Heavy] Great Pictures. I am not a fan of animals in captivity but I am always happy to see nice living environments if they are going to be captive.
My mother had a skunk for a pet when she was a child. She had a picture of her holding it. She was very little and doesn't really remember it. I wonder how that worked? It must have been before de-scenting surgery was an option and my grandparents were clean freaks.
There is a local wild life sanctuary here as well that has a skunk they use for public education. It is a very sweet animal. |

| Re: Trip to the Wildlife Park [Pic Heavy] I want a pet skunk someday. I've heard they're actually easier than ferrets (which I've had for, um....15 years now). Lazier than ferrets, anyway. That one is pretty!
Cool pics! Whenever I try to take pictures they never turn out right. Even with a nice new fancy camera. I'm just bad at it evidently, LOL. |
