| Gustav Hey all,
Lets keep the residents of the Gulf Coast in our thoughts and Prayers. It looks to be heading the same path as Katrina on what is too close to the Third anniversary of her destructive landfall.
I do have a selfish reason for this request, My two oldest Daughters, Father, Sister (and family) and brothers (+ family) are ALL in the path of this storm as is my BIL and his family. |

| Re: Gustav I will keep you all in my throughts I have been worried about this hurricane since I heard about it a couple days ago. The first thing that came to mind is Digitsmama, Vonnie, I hope she stays safe. |

| Re: Gustav The last track put this beast just west of New Orleans (of course that is the center and the thing is large.
I went to Avery Island in 2004 and to NO in 2004 as part of a month long trip out west. I have to say that it looks like it is going right OVER avery Island where they bottle Tobasco Brand Tpobaxco sauce. It is also a huge widllife refuge where the founde (McIlhenny) almost single handedly saved the Egret by establishing a protected rookery there.
Y'all are in my thoughts and prayers. |

| Re: Gustav Hopefully, Houston will be missed. At one time, it was thought we could get some pretty nasty weather but now it's going to be "normal" thunderstorms which will mean when I go to work, Roxxy will be medicated. Daja will hide but I want Roxxy to have as easy as time as possible.
MyRescueCrew is in it's path so let's keep her in our prayers along with everyone else in LA. It is going to be tough for them. |

| Re: Gustav Glad to say all my family is safe! No flooding where they are , though there are a lot of large limbs and some other minor clean up that needs done. The storm went well to the west of where they are.
How about everyone else? Vonnie? I know there was at least one other that was in Louisiana. I'd love to hear you're OK. |

| Re: Gustav I think it mostly missed Vonnie's territory, so I'm sure she's okay (we'd like an update anyways though!)...but I think her mom is near Baton Rouge and so I'm hoping she's made it through alright.
Let's not forget about those killed and who had livelihoods destroyed throughout the Caribbean...we tend to focus so much on when/where a hurricane will hit in the US that we forget about people who are decimated by the storm in some of the poorest areas of the world...like Haiti. Now the Bahamas are being hit hard by Hanna before it reaches the U.S...so again, if you're praying, don't forget the people in the Caribbean as well. |

| Re: Gustav Hey Guys!
Everything was fine here..Lotsa wind and lotsa rain. My dad is between Hammond and Baton Rouge off of the Tickfaw river. My Mom lives in Natchez MS..so far I havent heard from any of them because of the phone lines being down and cell towers that are down. I called the MDOT to see if roads were opened and they advised that we should just stay home until tommorrow.
Prayers still going out to everyone involved..Looks like there is a barrage of storms coming in..Hope for cooler weather and vigilant people everywhere.
I was quite amazed how the governments took hold of this one and had everything together. Evacuations went smoothly, Shelters opened for people with pets this time.
Myrescuecrew was directly in the path of this nasty thing..Prayers to her and her family continue. |

I've seen the pictures of just how bad it is for them. Hubby is on Limited duty right now due to an injury, but I'm sure my BIL will be sent out with his SeaBee unit.
Fortunately Hanna has weakened in the cooler waters of the Atlantic, We'll have to watch Ike though. The worst part of the season is upon us, throught he end of September is when you get the strongest storms especilly in the Gulf and Carribean which are at their warmest right now. Quote:

Myrescuecrew, please check in when you're able!!!!!

| Re: Gustav I pm'd MyRescue and told her I wouldn't be tooooo worried if she wasn't on for a day or two; however, MRC, where ARE you!
Houston lucked out again. I had maybe 10 min of rain on Sun and that was it. I feel bad for all the people in LA. I haven't heard from a friend of mine in Shreveport so I don't know if much got there or not.
Good thoughts going out to anyone and everyone affected by Gustav. |
