So the family and I were heading to church this morning. I had my one daughter and DH had the other 2 daughters. We're coming around a curve and there's a car stopped in the middle of the road. I couldn't see why it was stopped, but as i approached it I see 3 holstein calves walking down the road LOL! I have to say that's the first i've seen cows walking on the road. I went on to church, but DH went to the farm to try and get someone and let them now they had calves loose. However he couldn't find anyone, so he and another gentlemen (he also stopped) led the calves into the driveway. THey were headed that way anyway, and DH said they were pretty easy to lead.
Seeing those calves makes me miss the holsteins my IL's used to have. They owned a dairy farm, but sold it a couple of years ago when DH's grandfather died.
When I lived in Utah, that was one thing my dad would say whenever I left the house "watch out for cows!", but that was because it was open range out there! I always said, you didn't have to worry about getting pulled over for speeding (there were like 2 cops for the whole county) but you DID have to worry about plowing into a cow and getting killed!!
