fade to black :)

Ok, about two months ago now i took my casino winnings an bought a car.... a ford focus....a black car....

dundundun...

Ok, ever since i bought this car i feel like iam asking for it. I feel like im driving a giant black "HIT ME" billboard.

I feel like no one can see me. I almost get hit almost daily... when i drove my Saturn (its gold...no, wait...champagne.) I never had this problem....

Is it just me.... anyone else with a black car and a deathwish...??

oh yeah, and the thing gets dirty...instantly....i never had to wash the Saturn...it was dirt colored already... I mean...champagne.

Re: fade to black :)

That's what my dad always told me that black cars fade into the night and get hit constantly because people do not see them.

Re: fade to black :)

i have black ... but you know how Vegas is always so bright... lol.

JK...I know what you mean, but Vegas drivers suck anyway.

And yah, black cars show the slightest piece of dirt, dust, etc. I used to have silver, it was a lot cooler in the summer and didn't get as dirty... what were we thinkin w/ black?

I have more problems with the white van than the black car. I think it's just an attitude towards minivans anyway...

Re: fade to black :)

When I had my last MINI I had a few issues with that as well (it was jet black). Luckily no accidents, thanks to my catlike reflexes and the handling of my car. LOL My new MINI is "hot chocolate" so will likely be hard to see as well, but hey, may not look dirty as quickly. I have to say though, there is nothing prettier than a freshly washed and waxed black car. Sharp.

vegas drivers...man....i saw accidents daily when i live there. I was in three in two years living there... som'thing in that desert water...

What i was thinking when i got black was that it was the only Focus on the lot that wasn't a manual... In Socal.. and im sure everywhere...people are snatching up these small fuel efficent cars like nobodys bussiness...i was afraid i wasn't going to find another at that price...or at all

My first car was white....i was 16 and i drove like a pycho anyway... so any "almost" hits were probably all me..

don't worry about it... your the one paying for the gas...I'll save for disneyland and you can fill up your car! hehe

My saturn was actually equally fuel efficient as the Focus but it is only a matter of time before it dies as it was over 10 years old.
I figured if i didn't buy a car the money would burn a hole in my pocket and i'd by a bunch of dumb, smaller things...especially with my SO whispering in my ear... he asked for so many dumb things.

oh yeah... that too... thats the worst part. I mean i've been in really hot cars before but there are days with this car its so hot i can't touch the wheel long enough to steer the car.

I have to use one of those lame shiney windshield reflector things for when i park it. HOT!

Re: fade to black :)

I bought my black Ford Escape hybrid in May and haven't been hit - except by the flock of seagulls constantly circling overhead like vultures.

I could write a guide book of all the drive-through car washes in my county and which ones actually work.

Re: fade to black :)

I have a black car and I don't notice that problem - howerver I have a bigger care - so maybe that helps. I also don't do alot of night driving.

As for cleaning it.. I highly recommend a California Duster. Big one is about $25. I got mine at a Canadian Tire here so don't know what outlets in the US would carry that - you can check them out on-line too. For any dust that collects on your car, you brush this over it (takes 2 minutes) and it works like a charm. You don't have to wash your car so often. Won't scratch your car either. My hubby is a car freak - if he uses it on his new corvette i know it is ok. Really this thing is awesome. My manager is always asking me how i keep my black car so clean

thats a good idea... i honestly have virtually zero time to wash the car. Plus at night, no matter where i park, the sprinklers hit it and leave hard water spots on it.

And its big SUVS that always don't see me....my car is like a bug on the giant SUV bumper of life.

RonE i've yet to have bird poops yet... i live in a barren wasteland so im not a huge target for the non existant birds lol

Re: fade to black :)

So my new car died saturday...

Driving on the freeway, just got four lanes in to the carpool and the engine turns off and the wheel locks up. So yeah, i had to coast to the shoulder four lanes away with no gas and very little steering.

We got it to start long enough to get off the freeway, but the gauges were all dead and the engine kept misfiring. So the car lunged an jerked the whole time...

its at the shop right now, my mechanic was out of town til this morning....
good thing i didn't sell my old car because then i'd have to rent one right now.

arg! This isn't supposed to happen! And to think we laughed at the extended warranty...lol

but yeah, on the side of the freeway cars kept swerving to miss us at the last second...made me think of this thread.
