You all are too funny-- it IS a plant, and it IS a succulent, but technically it is not a cactus. Cacti are succulents, but not all succulents are cacti, if that makes sense. Cacti have little white bally-type things at the base of each spine, and this plant does not. This plant also loves lots and lots of water, whereas most cacti don't need much water. If you want to call it a cactus, you can. But it's not.
