| Could this be MY personal best??? Went to the grocery story last night. Needed some stuff, didnt need a lot of other stuff lol. I went in with a budget of $100 dollars. I came out spending $86.00. And look at all this STUFF!
Oh and in case you cant see in the back right there is a whole rump roast for pot roast and a package of beef necks for the dogs when they go to beef.

| Re: Could this be MY personal best??? Haha, we do the foodshare thing. Every tuesday we go to Trader Joes and get all the food that is about to expire. We fill our Suburban to the top. We usually take what's in the middle seat, and then drive the rest to the drop-off spot. Then a bunch of families come and we all share the rest of the food. We (Just our family) usually end up with about 3 or 4 hundred dollars worth of food. The rest of the food that gets distributed is probably 5 or 6 hundred dollars worth. And this is just one day. Someone different picks up the food every day.
And really, there's nothing much wrong with it. The only reason they give it to us is because on the shelf, nobody would reach for this food when there's the stuff that's fresher right next to it. Or if something get's a little torn, a can is "deformed," a bag is ripped open, etc...It comes to us.
Tsk tsk...FOLGERS coffee?? Hullo, it's called "CAMANO ISLAND COFFEE ROASTERS."

I wasn't planning on getting Tippy AT ALL. I went to the pound just to look, i like to talk to the dogs there, they are so sad. I watched people look at her and fuss and say how cute, and then she'd fall down and they would *gasp* or say "oh som'things wrong with that one!"
and then keep walking. I don't get it. She is the best dog. |

| Re: Could this be MY personal best??? awww I adopted a dog from our pound once...he was a huge thing...wolf/husky/chow/GSD....well he was going to be put to sleep that day...and I had the choice between 8 wk old puppies and him, and of course I chose him...on the chart it said he was good with all animals and cats.....=[ that wasn't true...
We had him for a couple weeks...he almost killed our cats...we pulled him off of them and they were cowering under the bed in their own waste...they were so scared they had gone to the bathroom on themselves....
I was so sad when we had to bring him back...I felt so guilty for giving him false hope of a good home =[ |

| Re: Could this be MY personal best??? Just a month ago, our grocery lists consists of:
JUNK FOOD
JUNK FOOD
JUNK FOOD
and more junk food...
Then suddenly everything changed.. DH quit smoking, we both signed up for gym memberships, hired a gym trainer and turned our junk food habits into "EATING HEALTHY".. a month ago, $100 will buy as more junk food than we can ever imagine, chips, chocolates, soda, cookies... now.. $200 is just not enough to buy all the HEALTHY FOOD in the world, a lb of asparagus cost twice as much as a box of oreo cookies... what's the deal??? Just goes without saying.. ITS CHEAPER TO GET FAT than it is to be healthy.. sad reality, isn't it?
Looking at your groceries Jen, I think I drooled a little bit on my keyboard.. LOL! |

Oh, looks like my cats were trying to look out your windows... | sadly that is the third set of blinds I have had on those two windows. It was either your cats or my german shepherd and beagle! Quote:

| Re: Could this be MY personal best??? OMG! I can't believe you got out of there with 86 bucks... I bow to you! For some reason we spend almost $200 everytime we go, and it's just the 2 of us! We do buy a lot of fresh foods though... oh yeah and that's just at Vons... add an extra 20-30 for my Trader Joes trip! lol. I just LOVE to go to the grocery store. I love to read labels... I know it's a sickness.
My name is Allison and I am a food-shopaholic. |
