Petsmart

I just put in an application to Petsmart (an unemployed 19 year old).
I was wondering if anyone else on this forum has worked there before?

I've been desperately looking for a job lately, but it's been really hard to find one out here in the boonies. I also don't own a vehicle right now, so I would need to use my parents car to get back and forth. I offered to pay the gas money with my stimulus check (I should be getting it soon), so hopefully it'll work out until I can secure a car of my own.

I'm mostly interested in their practices and general way of managing their associates. I've worked for Wal-Mart previously, which had the potential to be a great company, but sadly, the management was complete ass, and I was also forced to quit because management refused to work with me on my schedule.

I could have put in an application in quite a few places since I had this idea to work with my parents and gas money, but I chose something that involved one of my passions (the other choices would have probably involved things like sporting goods, or video games). I don't plan on working here long term, but I need cash to get started on my life.

Hopefully they'll accept my application. My available hours are very flexible right now, and I didn't leave my old job on bad terms (mostly), even though I only worked there for about 3 months, I'm sure most other applicants don't have stellar work records either.

So, if you have any experience working for this company, or know someone who works there and shares their experiences with you (people love to complain about their jobs, haha), then please share your knowledge with me.

Thanks guys.

I worked there for about 6 months. I worked in the petshotel. It was a lot of fun, but a lot of work in the hotel (boarding.) The regular associates all seemed pretty happy. You get a good discount, and you get free training classes too! Not bad IMO. Good luck with it! By the time I quit everyone knew all my dogs, and loved them!

Re: Petsmart

Good luck getting hired! I to am looking for a new job because where I work now, Subway, has really bad managment. My manager calls me names alot and throws food at me thinking its funny. I am thinking about calling the coporate office after I quit and telling them about all the things that go on there.

Good luck getting a job there. I have never worked for them but I have fun going there and enjoy the fact that the employees remember my cats name (Oh wait thats Petco...same thing! Im sure if I regularly went to a Petsmart it would be the same way).
