Good excuses for calling into work

Well for the past seven months I've been freezing my butt off. Now it has been 60ish and sunny every Mon thru Fri, then the weekend rolls around and it starts raining.

So I would like to hear any and all excuses used (real or not) for calling into work.

Re: Good excuses for calling into work

Severe lack of motivation has worked for me a number of times.

Wow, you must have some kind of cool slacker boss.

I think I'm going to try telling the boss my carpel tunnel is acting form posting too much on DF during work.

Tell them you can't see.
The boss will then ask, "You cant see?"
Then you say, Yeah I don't SEE myself coming into work today.

First time I heard that I fell out of my chair laughing.

Re: Good excuses for calling into work

yeah, I have to provide proof then. I'm looking for something fishy, yes very fishy...

I have a freind who's a cop. Think I can talk him into fake arresting me while the boss is here? I could probably squeeze a few days off outta that one.

Re: Good excuses for calling into work

I just need to think of something serious enough to get arrested, but not serious enough that I'll get fired.

Re: Good excuses for calling into work

I have a few "Real ones".

1. Go into work & then have somebody call you out with an "Emergency".
2.Go to a walk in doctor=cheap visit with a doctor excuse. There is a down fall, you might spend all day waiting but I would get multiple day's for this one.
3.Flat tire (car trouble)
4.Unexpected company
5.City paving street & can't get out of driveway.
6.Wife or hubby is sick, need to stay home to take care of them.
7.Cable guy was suppose to show & hasn't yet.
8.Husband/wife accidently took my car keys & there out of town.
9.Personal Reasons
10.Feel dizzy & just need to lay in bed all day.

Re: Good excuses for calling into work

I havent tried this one yet.

If your boss has caller ID go to a bar and call using their phone. When you get your boss on the phone slur alot and tell them you are way to drunk to work today.

Re: Good excuses for calling into work

This really happened to me 8 years ago... My glasses had broken and I was out of contacts so I called in and said i couldn't make it to work because my glasses had broken and couldn't drive. I needed to take the day off to buy new glasses and contacts. Well, to this day - my boss won't let it go and whenever i ask for a day off he tells me "what, broke your glasses?"
