| 911 dispatcher curses woman A woman was being held at knife point by her ex-bf and she was on the phone all day with several different dispatchers because a police officer never showed up and she had to call the mayor to get a police officer to come and arrest the ex-bf. But just after the last dispatcher she talked to hung up he said "I really don't give a **** what happens to you".
This story is so sad that you can't even call 911 without having someone mock you while your life is being threatened. http://my.att.net/s/editorial.dll?pn...m=hm+mc+videos |

| Re: 911 dispatcher curses woman I'm confused, if she hung up how did she hear the dispatcher curse? Also, she was on the phone calling the mayor and police WHILE her ex held her at knife point? Besides being stupid, what the hell were they trying to accomplish? I just find it a little hard to believe that someone would remain in the house with their captive while she called all these different resources to come and pick him up. Most would have either run off and killed her at that point. Not hung around for an entire day.
That being said - I didn't watch the video so I'm only going off of what you have written here. |

| Re: 911 dispatcher curses woman Well if the you watch the video it explains better than me. She didn't hear the dispatcher say the insult but apparantly anything the dispatcher says is recorded even if they aren't talking to someone. |

The way they make the story out to be - it sounds like he callously said to her WHILE on line "I don't care what happens to you." Not that it's anymore acceptable offline, mind you.
I still wonder about the whole calling all day while at knife point bit though...
If my comp wasn't being rather slow right now, I'd watch it. Thanks for explaining though. |

| Re: 911 dispatcher curses woman It says that the operator is no longer with them, so he was most likely let go-appropriate to the situation.
**I am not defending his actions** but there may be more to the story. there are a lot of "frequent flyers" out there who will call 911 over and over and over, this lady may have called every day for the same thing. The call will be prioritized, if pd is at her house every day for one reason or another and is they are unfounded complaints I can see why another call may take precedence. There is a person in town who has figured out the FD shift schedule and calls every day my friend is working, they will run on the person 2 -3 times a shift, there is nothing emergently wrong with the person (other than an obvious touch of mental illness) . A huge waste of resources, money, fuel & life saving respone time to a real emergency-people get irritated, after the 50th time it's tough to put on a freindly face. 911 is generally not 'dispatch' either and don't have a whole lot of say on when an officer/EMS/fire will be there-they input the info, offer any assistance they can over the phone, the call is prioritized according to severity and units are dispatched -thats how it works here anyway. |

| Re: 911 dispatcher curses woman I wouldn't call what she said was whining. She was furstrated that she was being held at knife point by her ex-bf for several hours and a police officer never showed up. I mean if you were in trouble wouldn't you be mad that after a couple of hours no one ever showed up? |

| Re: 911 dispatcher curses woman To be honest, as a former dispatcher you just get so tired of the same women calling saying they're scared their husband, bf, baby daddy, whatever is going to kill them, and then they call back the next night because they bailed him out of jail that day. It's just a rediculous cycle and a big waste of tax dollars. |

| Re: 911 dispatcher curses woman Oh, I thought you meant she was whining bluedawg.
I agree with you JenTN, like this lady has an abusive bf in our apartment building and she sits outside crying about how she hits and yells at him and he gets arrested and she bails him out or they break up and after a few days she begs for him back. But it wasn't smart of that guy to still have the head set recording if he was going to vent about her. Can't you turn it off when your not talking to someone? |

| Re: 911 dispatcher curses woman The trainee was fired, but not for cursing the caller. He failed a test.
People DO call 911 for all sorts of stupid reasons - like the fast-food drive up is too slow. It takes a special person to be able to filter through all the nuisance calls and recognize the true emergencies. |
