Ooh a lovely waltz! I like it! I have the day off but will be busy doing lesson planning all day as we are going to be in New Hampshire all weekend (not just the lake--we're going to the White Mountains too, and I am sooooo excited!!!).

Hope everyone is well...sorry I haven't been around much lately...just too busy!

Re: Ever have one of those days...

Hello to my other favorite friends

Well..I am excited! this weekend I am going to Louisiana for the annual Swamp pop festival..It is where the culture of south Louisiana comes out and parties like there is no tommorrow. Swamp pop is a genre of music born in LA that has been around for hundreds and hundreds of years.. My dad is a musician and I have been around this all my life..It was beginning to die out. Newcomers werent carring the sound that it once was. Then...the oldies started this festival to keep it alive..now the younger generation of musicians are follwing it like it should be. Im excited...Yes.

FOZ..sounds like fun..please take pics of the mountains!

Hey K..loved the dance!

Chrissy....that is so funny! A carpenter horse!

Danielle....Glad you had a great ride...and yes..I can tell you love that horse...I am really beginning to also!!

Kath.....How are you and yours today?

MDawn..I am glad to here Uallis is feeliing much better.

Hello MMM! VB! ALI!

Happy Friday Everyone!

Morning everyone! Hope you all have a great weekend. It's been really busy around here so I can't stay long. No softball this weekend! YAY!!! But I do have one tonight. My parents are coming back from their 2 week RV vacation so I think a nice long chat tomorrow is in order.

This is your idea of nothing to do LOL. That would be an action packed weekend for me.....

We are driving to New Jersey tomorrow for a 50th B-Day and driving back the same day. Ouch. I am not a happy car traveller like our friend Chrissy

V- That sounds like so much fun, enjoy.

FOZ- Enjoy the white mountains, I'd rather be going north with you.

Happy weekend K, and happy weekend to everyone else, tomorrow.

Diesel, best wishes for your Dad

Of course! I hate going anywhere without my furball! I've picked a moderate hike that will have great views but still be easy enough for her to get up (plus some of the super touristy things like the aerial tram obviously don't allow dogs) but I am more than content just to put her on the hands free leash and walk away from the crowds!

Re: Ever have one of those days...

Happy Friday!

V, that sounds like such a blast! Have fun, and can't wait to hear how it goes!

FOZ, Take plenty of pictures if you can! Enjoy it with Zoe!

Dmama, how is your dad today? I am still sending good thoughts and prayers your way.

Mdawn,I am so happy to hear Uallis is feeling better.

Hi SDO! How are you and your gang?

Well I have some disappointing news.

You all wont believe it.

My PRA just called about the test study that I am suppose to start on the 23rd. The study nurse who handles everything had to take her father off of lifesupport today. I am really upset for her, as she is a wonderful person. For reasons we all completely understand, she will not be working for the next few weeks. However, they don't know if they can find another study nurse to fill in. They are trying to see if someone can fly out from another test site. At this point, I already have two people filling in for others(remember the research coordinator who is taking his MCAT, he will be gone as well), the Doctor is really busy, and it doesn't look good about getting someone else in to take her place.

She asked when I could try and do it next, but I will be flying out to California next month...and my sister is getting married shortly after in September. Plus, I am returning to College this Fall(I took Summer off to adjust to my new lifestyle). It looks like if I can't do it next week, the next opportunity will not be until October. I will be 6 months into diagnoses at that point, and who knows what my insulin dosing will be by then.

I should have an idea by today if Wednesday will work or not. I am not feeling too confident in them finding another study nurse to come out on such short notice, I guess anything is possible at this point. Things could be worse, I could be losing a loved one today.

Re: Ever have one of those days...

RC I really hope that they can find someone to replace her. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

Where has everyone been today??? I know! Everyone is out partying and didn't invite me!!

Pepper finished her drawing of Uallis....OMG!! It's awesome and so beautiful. I think that I'm going to have a print made of it and frame it. She captured his personality perfectly. Actually, I wish that I could buy the original sketch! lol

Re: Ever have one of those days...

Mdawn, I saw the drawing, absolutely beautiful(of course, Uallis is a stunning dog)!! I love it in your avitar as well!

Well it is 12:36 here, looks like I will be staying up awhile.

I did everything I normally do. Counted up my carbs, checked BS(which was 81 prior to eating!) gave enough insulin to cover(according to my new adjustments), and this is the reading a few hours later:

I am banging my head on the wall now. This is the first real high, high I have had since diagnoses. I checked for keytones, and don't have any which is good.

I already gave myself a correction shot, I will check in a few hours to make sure it went down enough, and if not, I will give another correction. Gonna be a long night here. This is my first time lowering a BS like this, and especially at night. I am a bit uncomfortable going to sleep as I want to make sure I didn't overdose the insulin making the corrections, first time for everything. No better time but to learn now, I guess.

Re: Ever have one of those days...

I'm sorry your having such a rough night RC.

I hope it goes down and your able to finally get some sleep.

I'm up late tonight. I've been having trouble sleeping lately. I don't know why; occasionally I'm bothered by insomnia. It sucks. Thankfully, I don't have to work tomorrow though. So that is a plus. It really really sucks when I can't sleep and I have to go to work the next morning...it makes for a really miserable day. My mom has been plagued with insomnia for years and my father has too to a somewhat lesser degree...I think it must be hereditary or something.

Anyway, I hope your able to get to bed soon RC!

Re: Ever have one of those days...

Mdawn, Thank you, I hope so as well! Days like this are to be expected, and as my PRA says(I really like her, she was diagnosed 15 years ago at 36) this one number isn't going to harm. If this happened during the day I would be fine. However, I have never corrected quite like this before. I don't want to go to bed, and wake up with a low by accident(I am pretty confident I gave a good correction, but again first time doing it like this). Once I see how the units affected everything, I will know for future reference. Part of the 'learn as you go.' system.

Sounds like an unenjoyable night for you as well. Insomnia can be terrible. My sister's Fiance struggles with it from time to time. Thank goodness it is the weekend for you, I couldn't imagine getting absolutely no sleep(or very little) and trying to function the next day. Same goes for you, hopefully you get to sleep soon!

ETA: Well I just checked as it has been two hours since I gave myself a humalog. I am now 66, too low for bed(needs to be over 100). Guess I will be up for a little longer to bring it back up. At least it isn't over 300 LOL...

Re: Ever have one of those days...

Morning Reno, how is your Saturday going? Buck enjoying his AC today?

I was able to get 5 hours of sleep, enough to function like human today LOL. I definitely gave a too much correction last night, but seeing it was a 'first time' attempt correcting like that, I don't think I ended too terribly. Hopefully, Mdawn was able to get some sleep as well.

Happy Saturday everyone, hope everyone has a wonderful day.

Re: Ever have one of those days...

Morning everyone!! Looks like two of our gals had a bad night Hope today is better for you!!

MDawn- have you ever tried Melatonin for sleeping? The are wonderful-you wake up feeling fresh, not feelin like crap like other sleep meds do...you can get them at your local vitamin store- they really have been a lifesaver for me- I know a few people here that use them, too- try them-you'll love them! And I LOVE the UALLY drawing-beautiful!!

Danielle- Hope today is better for you- Looks like you are learning a lot about this- and thank you for teaching me a little- my MIL has Diabetes, and had for a long, long, time, so she has no issues controlling ups and downs, I am sure you won't either over time- like you said, learn as you go. Hang in there- you are doing great

I have two Otis threads up- He's a Brat....

My Saturday is going well so far. Going to go mow the lawn soon~ can't wait

Yes, Mr. Buck is sprawled out on the floor with the AC right on him. I'm sure he won't venture too far from that spot today, unless of course I take them down to the field and let them go in the creek. We'll see.

Glad you were able to get a decent amount of sleep RC. So glad you got things levelled off - good job for a first time. Should there be a next time, it hopefully will be easier for you.

Mdawn hasn't been around yet so maybe she was able to get some sleep.
