had a good night last night, but not so good day today. His pro-time levels fell too low today and bleeding started again so they backed off the heparin. Now the only worry is another stroke. Dr.'s don't think he'll come home by Fri because it's gonna take a few days to get him on a stable level again. He's quite pissy (can't blame him actually) about being there and is driving the nurses to store spirits in the break room I'm sure As I got there this afternoon I could hear him giving one of them hell from halfway down the hallway
You know, in his situation...I think a little attitude is a good thing. How is he today?

Reno, I will be considered an inpatient, but I will go home everynight(unless there is concern about anything). Basically, my day looks like this. I get to the hospital at 8. They give me Ibuprofen and Benadryl when I get there, two hours before the infusion. The infusion takes 30 minutes(they just lowered it from two hours, and so far, the quicker infusion time is not causing any reactions). Then I hang around for the next 8-10 hours(have EKG's done daily, blood drawn, blood pressure etc. all the guinea pig stuff), and go home that night. Repeat for the next 7 days.

I do appreciate the fingers crossed . I am also hoping for good results, at least, to keep me on my current insulin dosing....and not progress further.

Happy Wednesday everyone!

V, happy to hear your week is going great!

Chrissy, Mr. Bo looks great! You weren't kidding about those long legs of his, what a beautiful dog he is turning out to be.

Re: Ever have one of those days...

Yay for short weeks! Mine... is not. We have 75 coming for lunch in a couple hours and Max quit after going out on the bus last night. (I'm assuming anyway as he didn't show up for work this morning. That's fine. The 800/month will buy me a horse in one or two months. And we can afford to wait for someone who really WANTS the job instead of just wanting the friday jackpot. Plus all the benefits. Food, housing, It's not like we were feeding him bread and water. He had free chice off the menu and the $800 was clear except for clothing so it was a pretty good deal. Quite a bit more than a living wage as the min wage here is just over $1 us/hour and many people live here on that.(if not well)

Oh I agree. 800 doesnt sound like a lot but when you mention the free food, and the room and board.. What more could he ask for really??

Re: Ever have one of those days...

Reno, Happy Early Friday! Nothing better then a short week!

Chrissy, Someone will come along that will appreciate the $800, sounds like a great deal considering everything else you offer.

Hope everyones Thursday is going well. Just got back from riding Rhiatta. No videos this time around, and I wish I had. He was amazing today. My trainer and I worked on getting him to really collect up and work into the bridle. If you noticed in the first set of videos a few weeks ago he was not really collected at the canter. His comfort zone at the canter at the time was giving him his head, and just letting him go. He is much more comfortable being asked to come together a bit more. He was incredibly responsive to me today, and just a blast. I was also riding him much better, and was much more relaxed with him. Can you tell I really love that horse?

I may go watch my trainer show tomorrow at the Summer Slide, one of the largest reining events of the year, but other then that...not much else planned.

Re: Ever have one of those days...

Oh that sounds like fun RC, I miss riding There's nothing feels more satisfying than a ride like that, well not much anyway LOL. In response to ur previous comment, I guess Dad's attitude was preferable to no attitude which is where we're at at the moment.

K, congrats on the short week, this is my short week too, except I groom tomorrow and Friday if I'm not @ the hosp.

So, here's the update. No good news I'm afraid. Dad threw a clot last night apparently and has had a stroke. He's got almost no function on his left side right now. He's not very coherent currently, but the Dr.'s are telling me not to panic, he might just still be confused from his meds. Awaiting further tests and test results from today.

Re: Ever have one of those days...

Ok y'all remember me braggin on how non spooky Bree is?

Oh and my little "bombproof" filly? The one that greets semi trucks driving by with a loud whinny and doesn't flinch at plastic or paper bags. The one that instead of flipping out over the giant blue tarp flapping in a stiff breeze walked all over it and tore giant holes in it with her teeth? The one that yesterday morning was trying to help Juan plane 2 x 2's yesterday morning?(she kept grabbing them as he was planing and pulling them off the bench and she unplugged the planer) Her? Yeah. TOTALLY flipped out over a moth as it flitted through her stall last night. *rollseyes*

I'm sorry Chrissy, but the image of Bree 'helping' Juan by taking the 2x2's off the bench made me laugh hysterically.

Poor girl. Maybe the moth said bad things to her as it flew through....

Re: Ever have one of those days...

DM- Hang in there! I hope that your father shows some improvement soon. I'll keep you both in my thoughts.

Today is my Friday as well as I only work 3 days a week during the summer. I always have 4 day weekends...I'm a lucky one that's for sure...for another month or so anyway then I go back to 5 but with shorter days.

Well, Uallis is continuing to eat well...last night he ate his evening meal like he was STARVING! LOL...I've been keeping him out of the heat completely...He goes out for bathroom breaks during the day and that's it...I want him to stay in the AC during the heat of the day. He goes outside to play in the evening after its cooled off. He's not getting as much exercise as he was but I think its the way it has to be for now. He still hasn't put on any weight though () which I'm still a little worried about. He's still very skinny but as long as his energy stays up and no diarrhea or vomiting, I think that he can wait for his vet appt. the 28th and not have to go in sooner.
