Re: Ever have one of those days...

Well, it's 12:45 and I'm sitting here eating reheated Chinese with wooden throwaway chopsticks (coincidence, not planned...these chopsticks were the only utensils I could find...thank goodness I'm not eating soup). The dogs are at the in-laws for the night since the sight of all they know being put into boxes was rather unnerving for them, so it's just the DH and I.

We're almost done packing, then it's off to bed, getting up early to do any last-minute stuff, picking up the moving truck, then just tearing down the big stuff (bed, dresser) in preparation for the moving crew to arrive. Then DH goes off to IL with the truck and I stay to clean and deal w/ the apt people then follow him with the dogs and the fish on Wednesday...good times.

So I'm not really sure when I'll be back...depends on how long it takes us to get the 'net up and rolling in the new place (still have to decide b/w DSL and cable)...knowing DH and I that will be a highish priority.

Next time I see you all, I will have a house (albeit rented, but still) and a yard...it'll be fantabulous

So hugs, kisses, and bon voyage, kiddos...see ya on the flip side

On a Forced Air or Central Air furnace? No. Not in CA at least. In the out-of-way areas, we install Propane furnaces. Room portable heaters, yeah I've seen those. That kind of stuff is probably region based. I suspect you'd find those more, for lack of better word, primitive heaters in the middle of the country or places like Alaska.

Going to miss you, Shaina. Hurry back!

Hi all, I'm in Houston tonight. Safe and sound another night. No caribou. Did see a porcupine, 2 glaciers, and a Beautiful 4 point Buck tonight.

Shay, hope you'll be back on before I get back to Belize. Everyone else...

Good news though. While sitting there wishing I were home, I emailed Arizona and asked what my work schedule would be there. It's M - F 7:30 - 4:30 with 1 hour for lunch and 2 breaks whenever I chose to take them.... NO Saturdays and NO mission nights.
WOOHOO! I'm going to feel like I'm on vacation.

Hey was reading through, are you going to Huachuca? If so, when? I'm going to be back out there in August/September - also if you're headed there I can give you great directions (considering I lived there for about 5 years) to anything on the base.

Ft. Huachuca didn't work out ~ at least that particular job on the base.
So I'm back to square one, waiting to hear on any one of the thousands of other positions. Funny, I was going to get in touch with you for directions, suggestions etc... If I do end up there.. I'll let you know.

R, don't know what's wrong with the car. It randomly quits on me.. not so good doing 70 on the highway. Then it would take 30 minutes to get it going again. Tonite it was only going about 100 feet before quitting on me. Finally got it towed home.. I'm tired... Should know today what the prognosis is. I can hardly wait

Re: Ever have one of those days...

Going on 2 hours of sleep...Matt's flight was delayed an hour and a half, and by the time we got home (3 am), we had decided that we were too worried about Zoe's remote eating to sleep, so we headed off to the e-vet for xrays--good news on that, she didn't ingest any metal and all the plastic pieces seem to have been chewed up very small, so she should pass it all no problem--but we got home at about 5:30 and I had to be at camp by 8...so yeah, it was one of those nights for sure.

Everyone's got a lot going on right now...but I'm too tired to comment. Let me just say good luck to everyone.

Just took a picture of the DVD remote...figured I'd share...

Re: Ever have one of those days...

FOZ, She really had a hay day with that remote, didn't she! Glad to hear she is alright though, Riley has scared me a few times with his chewing(thankfully, he seems to have stopped...or at least, for now).

Hi Chrissy!

Hi Mr. P!!

Shalva, I can't imagine how you felt. What a relief Cuinn is home safe and sound now. Hopefully, he is doing well still after his adventure.

Volleyball, the engagement photos came out beautiful! Both of you look great, and so happy.

4dogs, Planning on getting anymore pictures of your dog pack soon? I am in the mood for some Beagle and GSD pics

Shaina, good luck with the move! Can't wait to hear how everything goes!

v, how are you?

Reno, sorry to hear about your car troubles. Hopefully, there is nothing to seriously wrong with it.

My brother, SIL, and the kiddos are coming out tomorrow for the 4th of July weekend. It will be a fun short visit.

Anyone have plans for Friday?

Rode Rhiatta again today, he wasn't as good with the canter work(I was trying to get him to use himself a bit more, bring his back up, and really work into the bridle...but it was very hot, and I think we were both having an off day)...I still enjoy him everytime though. He really gave me a nice extended trot and kept a beautiful cadence with it. I really think he would excell in HUS if only he was taller. He has such an easy trot to post and work with.

I don't know if I mentioned it here. Monday is 'D-Day' for me, the 8 day test trial starts. I am not exactly looking forward to it, but I am trying to think of the potential positives of it(75% of people getting this drug have a decrease need of insulin, it really is working). Picked up a few books for me to read while I am there(sounds like they may want me to stay overnight for at least 3 nights).

So seeing my brother leaves Sunday, and the trial starts Monday...I have a feeling the next two weeks are going to be very busy.

Yeah K, word on the car is 'no word yet'. Thought the problem had been solved, but when he took it out to test it... nope! We'll see what tomorrow brings.

Saw your picture thread. I love Ryder.

Re: Ever have one of those days...

Well, I'm back and tired from staying up late and reading this thread I had a great relaxing trip with my sidekick Cherokee, you can see pics in the thread that I posted.

I missed you all and K, I wish I had your phone number, I was fantasizing about Cherokee meeting your boys and romping in the meadow. We met a beautiful young shepherd on our hike at white rocks.

Shalva, I am so happy that you got your boy back. I often think Cherokee would be freaked out and nervous if he were to ever run away. He gets weirded out sometimes and it is not his nature to run to us for comfort.

I have a dog that is still stinky from rolling on a dead fish at the pond. (2 days ago, I hate to give him a bath). He also found a dead woodchuck which was a real prize for him. We thought he killed it but then, we realized his face wasn't bloody so he probably found it. There is a coyote that walked on the edge of the meadow in broad daylight and we heard it a few times. Maybe it was the coyote's woodchuck. Anyway, those woodchucks had been digging into our basement so one less is fine by me. I wish they could get them all but i saw more.....

Now I have to go get my allergy shots. Reality bites

Re: Ever have one of those days...

I don't think I've ever posted on this forum, but I definitely feel the need today!
I am teaching a six-week class at a university-- the same class I've been teaching the past three summers. Well, I thought last year took the cake when the university lost all of our (the teachers in my dept.) signed contracts and we didn't get a PENNY until the end of August-- well after the classes had ended, and in fact, after the fall semester started. We are supposed to get paid in June, July and August.
Well, the day before class started this summer, I asked the other teachers if they had received their contracts yet. Yes, they had. I had not. The director finally got me a new contract to sign, with a crap-ton of paperwork that I'd already filled out; you know, that new employee stuff like W2s and whatnot? Well, I'm not a new employee; I've been teaching for a few years at this place. Whatever, I filled it out anyway. Then I see the number next to the dollar sign. $300 short. I said "I'm not signing this until we get this figured out, and by the way, why did I have to do all this paperwork again?" The lady told me it was because if 30 days go by without teaching, you are considered terminated. So the Spring semester ended May 7 and the summer class started June 18, so I was "terminated". I didn't have to fill that stuff out again LAST YEAR, so why do I have to do it this year?
It turns out they had sent my contract to my old address at my mom's even though I filled out a change of address form last fall!!!!!!
I got the dollar amount figured out and handed in the signed contract last week. I did not get paid June 30 like everyone else did. Then the lady called me yesterday saying that I haven't turned in my criminal background check thing and that it takes a while to process, so I might not get paid this month either. They didn't even include that form in my *&#*$&^%@#* paperwork! Guess what, lady, I wasn't a felon last year, and I haven't been convicted of a felony SINCE, okay? If I had, I WOULDN'T BE HERE RIGHT NOW, WOULD I? NO!!!! I'd be in PRISON!!! I NEED CASH!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, I feel better. Thanks.

RM- welcome! Unfortunately most of the welcomes here are when people are having bad days, but stick around, we have fun here! Hope everything works out with your paychecks!

Re: Ever have one of those days...

Can I say, I HATE searching for kennels to take care of my dog.

I really HATE the thought of leaving my dog with someone that I don't really know, and I'm also worried how Nubby will do in a kennel setting after the hard time he had adjusting to the house. Gah I hate being a worry wart...
