| Re: Ever have one of those days... I haven't checked in on this thread in a long time...I was away for a few days because of my stupid internet decided to be slow as moses...or I'd constantly lose my signal...It seems to be working ok now for the most part.
Sorry to hear about the job Reno...something better will come up! I'm like you, I think things happen for a reason. It's wasn't meant to be with this job!
FOZ--that has to be so incredibly frustrating to have all those qualifications but not get the jobs. Are they giving you reasons of why they are passing on you?
Shaina--I bet the owners of the dogs went to get them as soon as they heard the message. Maybe they were already out searching for them when you called.
4d3c-the pictures are great! You and your SO look very happy together.
Well, for my little update which is NOTHING exciting ...Uallis is showing a lot of progress around the cats. I have been able to successfully get him to ignore them on several occasions. Tonight he walked right passed Max without jumping at him. Usually, when a cat is in the kitchen or where ever and Uallis sees the cat, he'll run up and try to mouth them. So I had one cat sit on the kitchen counter (Max, as he's the only one who will stand his ground around the dogs) and Uallis and I practiced "walking" in the kitchen. If he'd get excited, I'd turn us around and walk back in the living room and try again a few seconds later. Eventually, we worked up to walking directly up to Max. If he tried to mouth him, we turned back around and walked back into the living room and repeat...you get the idea. We have been practicing this a ton of times throughout the day after I get home from work. The idea is to get Uallis to be able to tolerate us holding or touching one of the cats. He's always had this problem with us holding the cats but at first it was a whine and maybe a concerned bark...over the months its worked its way up to him being seriously PO'd that we acknowledged the cats at all with him trying to knock down the baby gates to get to us and whatnot...If he wasn't separated from us by the gate and could reach us, then he'd jump up at the cat in our arms and we'd have to shield the cat by turning our backs to Uallis...which is dangerous because his weight jumping against me, I sometimes can't handle and keep my balance. So that is my little update! LOL
Time for bed, hope everyone has a good night (whats left of it anyway) and a good day tomorrow! |

Like I said, they looked well cared-for, and were clean other than the parts that were wet from being in the river...someone obviously cared about them.
And I'm glad Uallis is getting along better with the kitties! |

MD sounds like good progress with the cats.
To those looking for a better or good job, things always seem to have a way of something coming up that works out for the best..
( and - has anyone seen my coffee cup?..) |

I'm now seeing firsthand how much it stinks to be an academic in Boston in the summer...it's got such a gathering of academics that it's great for research, networking, etc., but in the summer when school is out, it just dies completely, and everyone with year-round leases is stuck trying to get the same few jobs. I have a feeling this is going to be a constant struggle...although at least by next summer I will have a masters and I plan to start looking for adjunct teaching positions very very early.
Also, glad to hear about Uallis and the cats...I don't think Zoe could ever live with cats. We never socialized her with them and the couple she's seen she just wants to chase like a squirrel...I bet she'd end up getting scratched up pretty badly if she ever spent a significant amount of time with a cat. Luckily, I don't like cats, and we will never have one lol.
My allergies stink to high heavens today. |

| Re: Ever have one of those days... Jenn, I am soooo sorry. I posted on the memorial thread too. I don't even know what to say, I know that anything I say will be inadequate. Just know that I am thinking about you and that we're all here for you if you need to talk about it (or if you need some lighthearted jokes in an attempt to cheer you up).
Otherwise, I just applied for three more jobs...I won't even go into the details, but all of them, especially 2 of them, would be pretty much like my dream jobs for the summer--totally awesome. I can't get my hopes up though...so far I've applied for like 12 and had 1 interview and got rejected.
Man, this thread is just full of bad news lately. |

| Re: Ever have one of those days... V and SDO, sounds like you've got some fun plans for the long weekend. We about to head up to Matt's mom/stepdad's place in the Lakes Region of NH. I only wanted to stay 1 night initially, but I guess his sisters can't come until tomorrow so it looks like we'll be there until Monday...hopefully there won't be too much traffic on the road back...
I should have some pics of Zoe playing and swimming when I get back.. |
