| Re: Ever have one of those days..... well good luck then. Im off but leaving on this note: My mom sent this to me yesterday:
An old, tired-looking dog wandered into the yard. I could tell from his collar and well-fed belly that he had a home. He followed me into the house, down the hall, and fell asleep in a corner. An hour later, he went to the door, and I let him out. The next day he was back, resumed his position in the hall, and slept for an hour. This continued for several weeks. Curious, I pinned a note to his collar: 'Every afternoon your dog comes to my house for a nap.' The next day he arrived with a different note pinned to his collar:'He lives in a home with ten children -- he's trying to catch up on his sleep. Can I come with him tomorrow?' |

| Re: Ever have one of those days..... I love them all! I like the little boy in the garage.. Its so sad that he probably wont live very long
I had to come back because I was at our dog park and i heard a fire truck. Then it turned into our complex!! It went right over by my parking space and just across and a few cars down there was one with smoke POURING out of it!!! They had to extinguish it and everything. It was crazy. SO just went out there right now to "get a book" from his truck. Replace get a book from his truck with spy on the people who are mourning over their burnt to a crisp car. LOL. I'll keep ya guys posted.
So I guess nobody knows what started the fire. The couple (young like my age) were out there and the girl had her hands over her mouth and was just in shock looking at the whole car. Seems like it was pretty bad. Like I said it was ENGULFED in smoke. Crazy though. A cop showed up to take their statement and everyone seems really baffled as to what happened. Like I said before this was literally 20 yards away from my car. I just hope nobody did this intentionally. But its a cool night, and the car was just sitting there.. SO and my guess is someone accidently left a lit cigarette in the car. But who knows. I'm gonna spy on it tomorrow in the daylight and see the damage. Ok well off to bed for me, another road trip tomorrow. This ones just a half hour away and theres no good scenery, but I might bring a beagle or two

I quit drinking when I was 26. It5 just got boring. Now, if I can just kick the ***s.
You know, I took care of my Dad for 3 years while he was dying of Lung Cancer, You'd think it would be easier to quit. I saw every nasty, painful, debilitating, humiliating, side of Lung Cancer.
My Dad was a big guy, 6'2" and about 180 at a good weight. The month before he died, he became bedridden, and we had to do everything for him. I would Pick him up in my arms and hold him while Mom and the maid would change the sheets. He hated that. The dependence on EVERYONE. I think, more than the pain that was the worst for him. But here I am almost three years and smoking away.
It almost feels though, that it's my last tangible link to him. That's what we did together a lot.
Just sit together, smoke, drink coffee, and talk BS.
OMG they edited f*gs I never even thought of it that way. Oops, Dom, I guess I've picked up too much english.LOL
Oh, well, you've all buggered off and left me then. Night. |
Chrissy, reading about your Dad was like reading about my own. Went through the same exact thing. My Dad didn't like being dependent on anyone either. That was the most difficult part for me. Seeing my Dad, this big strong guy who could do anything and was never sick a day in his life, being destroyed by the cancer. Fathers are supposed to be immortal aren't they?
Unlike you though, that was my impetus to quit smoking...
Okay, way too much for first thing in the AM. See you all later. K |

| Re: Ever have one of those days..... Mornin' Dom
I haven't been posting much because my husband has actually needed to talk to me He's got a lot of stuff going on at work.
Cherokee has spring fever. It's like he's got booster rockets or something. He can't believe how good everything smells when it's not frozen. I think it's still ugly and cold but, he has other ideas.
It's good to get the drugs behind you isn't it? I went through all that years ago. I miss them on really bad days though Alcohol just doesn't help me, so I'm stuck with my funk sometimes.
My Dad died of brain cancer and it was relatively quick (9 months total). Don't know how or why he got it but, my sister-in-law's father died of the same rare kind a number of years later. Was there something in the environment. I don't know, it's a little freaky.

Yeah i was impartial to the "good time drugs"!,no heavy s***.but they all take their toll after a while.
I suppose you have to live and learn to figure out how to make your path a better one.
Hope things are ok with you and your husband.

| Re: Ever have one of those days..... Hey kids -- turns out the hotel has internet, how sweet is that? Took me forever to catch up -- can't believe you guys went ahead and got 3000 without me! You got 2000 when I was driving home from TAing...jerks!
So yeah I'm just chilling in the hotel enjoying cable and waiting for my hubby to get back from his interview, then it's off to check out apartments.
Oh and my little fishie is still missing, or was when I left. Maybe it was just waiting for me to step out the door before it came out of hiding? Anyway, hopefully I'll be getting my plants this weekend, then can add fish ~2 weeks later (to my new tank). I'm think about doing an Amazon River biotope...make it really natural-looking for the fishies.
Anyway, I'll be around a bit before I gotta go check out.
Toodles!
EDIT: did I mention that finding a two-dog-friendly apartment is the #1 factor in whether we adopt Skylar? |

I'm kinda giving up on the fishie to be honest. I think I'll get 3 more this weekend so give them time to recover before they go in the big tank.
I'm going to try to take pictures as I set everything up, if I can get my hands on a camera. The biggest problem will be picking plants and finding good driftwood and rocks (the rocks I'm hoping to get from the ravine on my in-law's property).
I miss my pooch -- the DH brought her over to his parents before I got home from work yesterday, so I haven't see her. I'm kinda worried about her over there -- last time she stayed there she came home and her confidence was shot, it was weird. |

| Re: Ever have one of those days..... Aww...she missed her mamma, thats all. I know I left Otis at my sisters a few weekends ago and he was walking around crying after 1 1/2 days- don't know what he's gonna do when we go away for a week..my baby. Sometimes I wish he was a small breed so I could take him with us everywhere. If we'd take him with us we'd have no room for luggage!! ha ha-no I wouldn't trade his largeness for nothing!
Now, whatch your back...I see there are atleast two we have to watch now...
