Talking DogForums Independent Chat!

Hey guys! Thanks to our lovely members, we have a nice little chat to go to, until we are able to create one here on the forum (which might be a while). Here is the easy-join link:
http://java.freenode.net/

How to get in
- For "Nickname," Just type in the name you use here.
- For "Channel," type dogforums
- Then just press "connect," wait a few seconds, and you're in!
Or, if you're an irc wiz, you can do it that way as well.

If you go in and it's empty, feel free to post that you are in chat, so that others might join you. Thanks guys!

Re: DogForums Independent Chat!

Just as warning, due to settings and such, some may be unable to run it. You also have to have Java client to run this particular version.

For instance, I can't access it from campus but I can from home, even though I'm using the same computer.

Also, be sure that you type the channel name, dogforums, as one word and including the s (we've had a few problems with mistyped channel names thus far).

That's all folks, enjoy

It loaded up the chatroom but then said "unable to connect: null" Sadness. Maybe it will work on my home computer.

Some computers do not support javascript. Or nortan blocks it unless you click okay to accept is the problem.

Also for those who were wondering how to make the text bigger...

On the bottom right of the chat box where you see the little colored boxes, there is a button next to that. Click it, change font and size.

Thats for those who aren't using a client. I don't know the other ways.

It was doing that to me too, that why I couldnt get in for a little bit. I had to restart my computer, then log in again. There is a pop up window that I get from my computer that asks if I will allow connection to the site (I pressed cancel on it once [it's a bad habit of mine; Dont read the pop up window, just press the cancel or ask again later button] and it wouldnt allow me on after that).

Maybe that might work?

Hi!

I wanted to let you guys know that they have been doing server maintenence and restarts, and when you try to sign in when they do it is says "Unable to connect:Null" So that's probably why we get it.

Re: DogForums Independent Chat!

You have to get on around 8 or 9pm eastern time, thats when people start trickling in, then around 10 or 10:30pm eastern time is when its really packed and hard to have a conversation because there are so many people in there.

Re: DogForums Independent Chat!

My Username Started With A 4. It Has To Start With A Letter! I Am Finally In!

WHOOPS!

So I logged into the chat, and was waiting for someone to come in, now that I can get on chat.

Someone logs in, dont recognize their name....I say, hmmmm who are you?

They say: We work for American Express. We monitor activity...

etc etc etc... turns out I am not allowed to log onto IRC while at work.

Sooooo I wont be using chat unless I am at home!

Kinda scary though!
