| So mad...I HATE vista.. I have NEVER been as mad as I am now at this stupid computer. I am ready to SUE vista. This is byfar the WORST computer we ever had. Everything was fine untill it installed updates...1st of all it installed them and DIDNT let me have an option of yes or no. After it did the dame things the print was soo small I needed to put my head close up to the screen still then I had to squint me eyes. No matter what size I ajusted it to it was either to big or to small. Now the fonts big but I reckon I will tolerate it. I was so Ticked I think I used every swear word in the book. I was so mad. now I have a headack and im going to be in a bad mood and probily never use the computer again. UGH
WTFreak would A.) Do updates without me having a choice if i wanted the crappin stuff or not
B.) make the font so crappin small you need a magnafine class to read it. UGH I need to vent and I am going around telling people NOT whatever they do get vista...my old computer was much better. |

| Re: So mad...I HATE vista.. Vista won't be around much longer. Supposedly there in another operating system is already in the works at Microsoft. Operating systems are supposed to make life easier or better for the user. Vista causes most users to buy new computers even to run it. You need double the resources (a faster computer with more memory) just to run the same applications that you did with XP. Most computer people that I know of that are in the market for a new PC, are buying less than what they normally would because it comes with XP and not Vista. And the ones that aren't are buying xp, and unistalling Vista. It's days are numbered. NEVER buy an operating system that's been out for less than a year and a half. Even the super Windows 95 had sooooooooo many problems up until their second release of it. |

| Re: So mad...I HATE vista.. OK, I went from XP to Vista as well, so far no problems, in fact I like it better. Perhaps it's partially the brand of computer? Mine's a Dell and it's great. I'm finding my way around alot easier find the tools on my computer alot easier to use (power point, XL, Word). I really like how much easier Outlook is to set up and use, I was never able to get outlook set up correctly with my POP3 on XP. Vista only took about 30 seconds to get it set up.
The only program I've had trouble with was McAfee, when it didn't want to download the my subscription renewal. |

| Re: So mad...I HATE vista.. I hate it too, I liked it untill it messed up my computer! One of the stupid updates...it froze it and got it stuck in some cycle of restarting. I got it fixed for free but it was still a pain in the but.

| Re: So mad...I HATE vista.. I'm a Microsoft fanboy, but that sevrice pack 1 update was a freaking nightmare. I ended up slamming everything to the external hard drive and restoring to the first restore point. Then I turned off updates, and wifi until the fix was integrated to the update. Now things are better. It's still hard to get used to where all the stuff gets saved. That and confirming every gosh darn mouse click... Doesn't help I'm on XP, if I was constantly using Vista I might be more versed in it (we have three computers). Living near Boulder, I wouldn't be caught dead with a MAC. I have people on contract to make sure that doesn't happen either.

| Re: So mad...I HATE vista.. I have always had macs and love them. My problem came when I bought iPods for my kids for Christmas. They wouldn't work with my operating system that was only 2 years old. I had to buy Leopard just to use them.
It seems like the whole computer industry makes your stuff obsolete after a few years so you have to buy new stuff. The person said at the store that why didn't I just buy a new computer, I could get one for $1000. $1000????? I don't want a new $1000 computer so my kids can use their iPods |

| Re: So mad...I HATE vista.. Yeah, Yeah!!! I forgot to mention the i-Tunes thing. I was helping my grandma put some music on her new i-Pod, and of course you have to download the huge i-Tunes program to transfer music... Well, the digital licensing software in i-Tunes didn't like my library. After installing it I had about 3.5 Gigs of music I could not use because i-Tunes had deemed the licenses corrupt? Even after removing said worthless program? I had to reload almost my entire music library after that. I think it was because the cd's I have are on average ten years old, before the DRM thing was integrated onto discs. That, and that alone will make this a Microsoft household forever. |

| Re: So mad...I HATE vista.. I attempted to reply to this earlier, but my browser window kept freezing on me (this only happens on this computer, which runs Vista, not the other three XP computers). I think Vista knew I wasn't happy
In general...it's okay. My biggest adjustment was getting used to the new Word and Excel formats (2007 here, not 97-03), because I use both programs extensively. That's not an OS problem though.
Confirming every mouse click does get annoying, though it's not a big deal. More troublesome is how I can't install much older software, including but not limited to ChemCAD (which I need for school) and Oregon Trail II (which is just fun to play every few months). Outside of those issues and the browser freezing (maybe 1x/day...I'd be more upset if it didn't restore so well), it's not bad. Then again, this is a tank of a laptop with acres of memory to spare, and it has never ran anything but Vista. Oh, and did I mention it doesn't come w/ that pinball game? |

| Re: So mad...I HATE vista.. I do have to say, that many times I have been tempted to go MAC. For ease of use, it's not even a question. Apple shot themselves in the foot many moons ago by refusing to allow many software companies to design their software. And as a gamer, their really is no choice between Mac and PC. That new air notebook sure does look nice though. |

| Re: So mad...I HATE vista.. Vista is the reason why I keep putting off the purchase of a new laptop. I was a Dos user and when the first Windows came out it was such a waste of time since you could do everything by DOS. I hate having a program controlling MY computer. I might just as well go to Linux as I am not comfortable with Mac interface. |

| Re: So mad...I HATE vista.. I have Vista as well and at first I was completely lost. My friends kept laughing at me until they came over to "show me how to use it" Ha Ha, then they all knew where I was coming from. I am getting more used to it now. I don't know that I wish to change anything right now. I more hate the cordless key board which is a pain in the back side. Yikes! |

| Re: So mad...I HATE vista.. I have XP and its slow as christmas, takes 5 min to load up when I turn it on. I think it needs to be cleaned out or something, my friend's dad uninstalls and cleans everything out on their computers every year and it runs real fast. I may have to get him over here to fix mine. lol I've always wanted a lap top but when I set a laptop up on dell for my needs it cost $1480 or something like that. I couldn't believe it! |

Almost like starting from sratch. I try to keep mine running lickity split, but the Vista machine of the wife's on the other hand... This thing loads in about 45 seconds, defragmenting takes all of two minutes. I don't know what your needs are, but we always camp out at Best Buy on black Friday for $300 laptops. This year is T.V. year. YAY!!

Inga -> I've hated cordless keyboards every since a battery exploded in the DH's back when we were engaged...what a mess. I know that it probably wasn't the laptop's fault, but it was blamed anyway. |

| Re: So mad...I HATE vista.. Wow, they have lap tops for that cheap? I may have to do that. I just need a laptop that has CD-RW/DVD-RW and can use wireless internet (was going to use that verizon card that you put in and you get instant wireless internet). I can't remember everything else but I need memory as I take lots of pics and videos. |
