| I don't particularly like fur and would probably never own a fur coat mainly because they're ugly and it's really hot here anyways. But I can't condemn people for wearing fur while I wear a leather belt and leather shoes and eat my hamburger. And yes, I do like animals, even those in the fur industry. I own a chin and have owned another chin.
I do agree that the more of the animal used the better. |

| It's not so much the fur coats that bother me, it's how the furbearing animals are treated before they become fur. Are they trapped in leghold traps? Bred and kept in crowded and unsanitary condition? How are they killed? Is it humane? I think those are the important questions. |

2) That idea is also a bit of a myth. The Indians didn't always use every bit of an animal. For instance, there was one tribe in particular (I don't remember which one) that used to stampede a herd of buffalo off of a cliff. An entire herd would die when they hit the bottom of the cliff. The Indians would then climb down the cliff... take one or two out of the hundred dead ones, and take it back to their camp. Yes... they'd use every bit of the one or two buffalos... but the other hundred or so would be completely wasted as they rotted at the bottom of the cliff. Quote:

Why can't everyone be a vegetarian? | I could never be a vegetarian. I love meat. Animals are just that... animals. I believe that God gave us animals to use. I see no difference in using animals for food/clothing than I do in using an ox/donkey/horse to plow a field. Nor do I see any difference in a blind person using a seeing-eye-dog. Nor do I see any difference in a disabled person using a monkey to fetch things for them.
We all use animals...
I mean... this is a dog forum. We all use our dogs to bring us some sort of enjoyment.

But I definitely don't think there's anything wrong with owning a fur coat.
I have a full-length, all-leather trench coat. When I bought it... I never once stopped to think if the cow was raised simply to provide the leather to make the coat... or if the leather came from the same cow that provided me my steak that night.
I don't really understand the whole "Animals have rights too" mentality. |

Ok... I'm just as confused to this response as I am to ilovemychihuahua's comment to me in the other thread.
I'm not "picking on" her. I'm not... in this thread or the other one. I simply do not agree with her statement that "wearing fur coats is wrong". And in the other thread... I don't disagree nor do I agree with what she said. In the other thread, all I said is that I'm not worried about an asteroid hitting the earth and she spazzed out on me and got mad simply because I'm not worried.
Seriously... why are the two of you so angry? Why do you both instantly assume that someone is "picking on" someone simply because they disagree with the other's idea(s)?
You should both learn (the sooner the better) that you will come across many different people in your lives who disagree with certain things you say. It's a part of life. There's no point in getting upset over it. Just accept it and move on.
Furthermore, I'm sure that there are many things that ilovemychihuahua and I will agree on. This topic is just simply not one of them. Quote:

"Wearing fur is wrong" and "People shouldn't buy them anyways" are both statements that you'll need to convince others of by doing more than just simply stating it.
I've alread stated why I believe it's ok to wear fur. I believe that God made the animals for our use. If we're using the animal, I don't see how it's wrong.
And don't worry... if the two of you don't agree with me on this, I won't view it as you "picking on" me. |

The problem I have (and again, I'm not picking on you) is why you hate these people. What reasons do you have to claim that wearing fur is immoral/wrong? |
