Through a "the" in front of it, and I think I could go by "the foz"...it almost is like a name to me now, haha
But I know what you mean...
for instance, Shalva's name is not Shalva...her dog's name is Shalva...I don't even know what her name is...but if I ever met her, I would probably have to call her Shalva.
Same thing with Inga...she is Inga and always will be. Nevermind that was her dog's name...I couldn't call her anything but Inga.
At least I'm FOZ and not usually Zoe... |

I am Stephanie just for the record but I do like the name Shalva alot for a person..... I could like it
I actually get along with most everyone (believe it or not lolol)
I do have a big mouth but I am tactful.... (another surprise huh lolol)
I am pretty low key and fairly quiet in crowds.... I would rather go out one on one than to a party..... I am not one to schmooze and make small talk it seems like such a waste of time....also because of my hearing I have a hard time functioning in large groups so unless there is an interpreter or the people around me sign I am pretty much left out of conversations
I have met quite a few people online and am will actually be visiting several of them when I head to england in a few weeks (I know you will miss me)
but I am pretty easy going in real life .

I think some of us would mesh and like any other situation some wouldn't. I know I have a very strong opinion (go figure) and have been told by other it's just to much some times, but I know plenty of peoplet hatw ould back me up in a sec.. Everyone I really get a chance to know seem to come back and talk to me..does that count. I guess it has to do with when you catch me. hehe
I think it's an awesome idea!
My sister(owns the ferrets) has gone to a meet up here close to where I live. I went with and it was pretty fun. Not awkward at all and pretty much every one was super nice. |

At least I'm FOZ and not usually Zoe... | I was just thinking the other day, while on the forum, that if the middle letter was E you could be Fez (pronounced like Fes (Foreign Exchange Student) in That 70's Show).
It's pretty typical though. For all we know, RonE isn't really a Ron E. at all. Maybe his real name is Wilbur or something. I mean, Shaina's not my real name, it's just a screen name. |

| Re: would we like each other? But thats just the thing ulot we are all SO different,Shalva(stephanie.lol)likes one on ones i love partying and socializing but my love for all things canine is so limited in my circle of friends. So no matter how out going or shy any of us were a few crates of champers and some(lenthy)dog talk later we would(i think) get on like a house on fire. After all the whole reason for us even talking now is Dogforums right? Id love to meet all of you(but your dogs more.lol) |

| Re: would we like each other? Years ago, I was walking at the dog park with a woman and her dogs. I'd been walking with them nearly every morning for over a year and I finally got up the nerve to say to her, "I know your dogs Beatnik and Daisy and I have no idea what your name is."
So she laughed and told me. We were already friends but that sealed it. Several of us would get together for breakfast and sometimes dinner and, when she died unexpectedly, we all went to her memorial service.
Dog people are just good folks. I think that's because you can fool people but you can't fool dogs.
They recognize true character when they see it.
I've been called Ron all my life. When I was 14, I found out it's actually my middle name, but I'm always called Ron. I don't have many secrets.

| Re: would we like each other? See I can't use that judgement at all with Ted, Buster or Duncan..they're no help at all. Teddie loves everyone no matter what; they don't even need a treat in hand. Buster and Duncan on the other hand are terrified of everyone. But if I were every in need they'd all be there in a heart beat. well Buster wouldn't he'd be running back to the house! |

| Re: would we like each other? A few weeks ago, we had a dinner party for people my wife works with. My dogs and I hadn't met them before.
Esther and Molly came into the room to meet them (after the guests had been warned) and Molly immediately trotted over to one of the women, sat on her foot, leaned on her (like labs do) and started purring.
The woman is a lab breeder and trainer. (I liked her a lot, BTW.) |

| Re: would we like each other? I have the same opinion as Mrpooch. If my dogs are looking uncomfortable with somebody eventhough that someone is with his/her dogs, I tend to stay away and no more than HI/HELLO for conversation. At the dog park, I only talk to people who shows genuine interest and love for dogs. I have a pretty good judge of character as well. Although, internet can fool us into thinking someone is nice or not, I believe most of the people here in DF are good people who has genuine love for animals. And I really love to meet all of you and your dogs in person.
This forum helps me alot, and I learned so much from experienced dog owners. And like the other person, if the only interest we have in common, is genuine love for dogs, I CAN BE YOUR FRIEND. |

| Re: would we like each other? I think it'd be a good idea. We could all meet up at a large dog park or something and let the dogs run free while we talk. I'm Michael btw, and it would be nice to meet up with people, I wanna meet teddie. I have meet with two people from a hermit crab forum at the pet store I go to, one of them came from a city two hours away. And I had been wanting to get rid of my hermit crabs as it was costing to much to maintain it and manage it. Last I heard the little guy is still alive. |

Hey Shalva aka Stephanie. Great idea telling a bit more about yourself. I am kind of the same, I prefer one on one or small groups to loud crowds though I can get along alright in a crowd it is not as comfortable. I can be quiet though my friends might argue that point. I prefer quiet and often don't have any noise in the house at all. I think that is part of the reason I have the dog breed I do. Although my pup is a little yappy from time to time. I don't listen to the radio often or TV. Yup, I am boring. I actually like to sit around thinking. LOL Especially on a long quiet walk and I am close to Heaven in the country or the woods. I love it. All of that is with my dogs of course.
It would be even more fun to not tell anyone who we were and see how many people could recognize us by our dogs. I know, I would be easy. I think I am the only Rottie person attending this party. LOL

| Re: would we like each other? I'm terrible with names and will have to continually come back here and look at this thread to remember what you've all said. On the other forum on which I am active, we put our first names in our signatures. Just a thought...
I'm Caitlin, by the way. |
