My brother went to a halloween party as a terrorist years ago - long before 9/11 made terrorism a front-page issue for those in the U.S. Someone took a picture of him holding an assault rifle. This was back when cameras used film and getting the film processed at a drug store or camera shop was still the norm. The clerk turned the photo over to the FBI. The FBI showed up at his house with the photo asking all kinds of questions, interviewed neighbors, his employer, etc. He had to do some fast-talking and produce the fake gun to clear himself. And that was before the internet.

No reason for the story. The above photo just reminded me of it.

Thanks luv, been hitting the gym myself, more training at home too, need the stress reliever LOL. Hate the haircut! Been hiding from cameras but a guy friend snuck in a side shot when i wasn't looking

It wasn't NY (not sure what that reference is about - is NY particularly dictatorial?), but the FBI is a federal org w/jurisdiction in all 50 states+ U.S. embassies, etc. so it could have been anywhere. And it was a replica of an assualt weapon which it was illegal to own. Maybe it was the times. Maybe they're obligated to follow-up on all such reports. Don't know. Like you, I do remember thinking it had a bit of a Big Brother odor to it. But I also remember feeling glad that they bothered to look into a suspected terrorist situation. “Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty.”

Unless he was in a state that outright banned "assault weapons," there has been zero time in history when they've been illegal to own in the US, which would be the only reason the FBI would get involved.

Even in '94-04 they were perfectly legal to own, it was the manufacture of new ones that was prohibited.

And yes, New York is very near Nazi Germany.

Not a lot of Halloween photos, guys! I was expecting some more.

A group of us went as the Seven Deadly Sins and every one (except my boyfriend and I, Sloth and Lust) was a hot mess. Just dressed in drag and looking nothing like their sin. Disappointing, but fun night anyway!

i'll post some halloween pictures too. i decided not to do pamela anderson and borat since i didn't want to wear such revealing clothes (i am a prude! ) and shawn nixed the bill and sookie idea. so we decided to do rocker and emo. not great costumes but we had to work with what we had. there aren't any stores here to buy anything to make costumes.

emo me...it was fun to do my hair and put on way more make up than i normally wear


trying to be serious since shawn said serious was that attitude that we needed to go with our costumes
