| CAllie is that an American Bulldog in your pic?? If so he/she is alot more stockier then Chopper!! , Again you are what your dog becomes so if one says "my dog is so dumb" then you made it that way, Yes I have seen some dogs that are called "dumb" one is my FIL mixed breed but the reason behind his so called dumbness is he was beat to no end as a pup by men so he has a problem trusting them but he is just I will say "quiet" he really has no emotion to his face other then saddness |

| i am changing my opinion....Afghan are no longer at the bottom of my list of "trainable" breeds....i think i will now put the Coonhound there.....
and i don't know who said it but i REALLY agree.....a dog is only as dumb as the person training it (that's why i said "trainable" breeds above).....they are all trainable, but some are just "a bit" slower on the uptake when it comes to training, and when you have dealt w/ alot of highly trainable breeds they tend to spoil it for the others (i'll stick w/ my Border Collies ) |

| I would never pick a breed to say it was dumb. Maybe some individual dogs
But I've never seen this before.....a friend of ours has a JRT and we were over at the house (they were raking leaves). Their JRT is a short legged one - must weigh all of about 10-12 lbs (guessing). Silly little thing was barking his head off at a good size rock (about 1/2 the size of a football). When the rock would not move, he proceeded to be pushing the rock around like a ball over and over. Then stop and bark at it, then roll it, then bark, etc.
I wish I had a video cam - would have sent it in to America's funniest videos! |

Yeah it is an American Bulldog! I got the pic from a website. My American Bulldog/Eniglish mix is pretty stocky! He is a big boy. I love american bulldogs and eniglish bulldogs. Is yours purebred or mix? |

I think American Bulldogs are one of the sweetest dogs ever. Mine is such a big baby. He loves to sit on you when your on the floor. I love him to death. The sad thing is he is deaf when the rescue group found him and his pads on his feet were torn off. We think he feel out of a truck and then into the ditch were he was found, but we don't know how long he has been deaf. |

| I'm sorry ILoveMyWestie, but that's a little ridiculous. If you want to dislike someone, dislike the people who bred the Irish Wolfhound to hunt wolves. The dogs didn't just decide to do it on their own. Besides, I don't believe they have been used for that purpose for many years.
I don't like labeling breeds because the individual dogs within the breed can still vary so much in personality. I think it's an unfair generalization. |

| Just a thought... Well ilovemywestie, think about it for a moment. Is an Irish wolfhoud
A. a hound
B. a dog
C. created in the image of the wolf
or
D. all of the above
D right? Because wolves have created dogs in their image, yet it is the human who has made their ways with every breed of dog in the world. I know, I don't like the fact that they hunted wolves either, but it was people that made them the way they are, as they did with every other breed in the world. But I wouldn't claim the breed. Putting a lable on a breed is just as bad as putting a lable on man.
But wolves give such a genetic resemblance to a dog don't you think? I do!

actually, to my understanding, the wolf and the dog came from the same beginnings but the dog did not evolve from the wolf itself....so, technically, they are cousins.....and, as for the IW hunting wolves, why is that any different than the dogs bred to hunt deer, boar, birds, 'coons, etc.?..... |

| My bad Good piont. It is the same as hunting any other animal. But i do think that 90% of dogs origonated from the wolf. Like sight hounds for example. Not all of them, sorry if that had been stated. |
