| Ok all you service people. What's the strangest thing... you've ever been given for a tip?
Somebody just left one of my waitresses a condom. Why??????? She's pretty offended. |

I hope this wasn't a regular customer that did this. |

| Re: Ok all you service people. What's the strangest thing... That is certainly an odd thing to leave for a tip Tell her he must have thought she was just too beautiful to be caught unprepared OK, not funny, sorry. Makes ya wonder what this person must have been thinking tho |

| Re: Ok all you service people. What's the strangest thing... One time I ate at a local restaurant and we ended up with a server who was a girl I went to high school with who I couldn't STAND...she was being really fake sweet in front of my friends and it was driving me up a wall. We left her a cigar and 2 sticks of gum...but then a normal tip too because I felt bad not giving her any money (I wanted to be the bigger person). But still...cash, cigar, and gum ain't bad! |

| Re: Ok all you service people. What's the strangest thing... I've never gotten anything strange like that before as a tip...I've gotten phone numbers along with money, and DH and I have both had regular customers bring us gifts, but not as tips. One of my customers back in the day when I was 21 and single, brought me two pair of thongs from Victoria's Secret. I've also been thrown up on, had a guy throw a plate of food at me, and just a couple of weeks ago an elderly man smacked me on the rear. And I don't work at some sleazy joint either, it's a decent steakhouse. |

I think mine would have been the 38 cent tip. I work in retail and I'm not suppose to take tips but every once in a while you end up getting one. I ended up spending 45 minuets on this guy fixing his watch. I changed his battery, gave him a new watch band and even took out links for him. He paid me for everything and told be to "keep the change for a tip". Yeah 38 cents! I can go to college on that! |

| Re: Ok all you service people. What's the strangest thing... Let's see...I've been serenaded, asked to watch someone's child while they went to the bathroom, caught someone performing oral sex (my personal favorite), and I almost had my face eaten off by a large dog of unknown origins when they came to our drop off window. Gotta love high school jobs.
Now as a supervisor in college, all I see are the strange things. If they weren't strange, then my crew would deal with it.
Just to clarify, the serenade was my tip, the other stuff I just threw in because it was just strange.

| Re: Ok all you service people. What's the strangest thing... I worked at a speciatly cafe in high school where dogs were welcome as a waitress. I brought my dog with me everyday and he would actually pull a cart bused dishes on it (he was a Swissy and LOVED to pull). There was a customer there that kept asking me out and I kept declining......he was creepy, always asking if I was allergic to cats. One day he came into eat and left me a small crate as a tip......with a cat in it........very strange... |

| Re: Ok all you service people. What's the strangest thing... I work at subway, but no tips. I have been asked several times if anyone told me that I looked like Jared from the commercials. I don't think I do, do I?
Also someone left a comment card and on the part that says "What can we do to better improve your next visit?" they put "give me money" and for the contact info they put "Michael Jackson" as their name. Then on the back they wrote "I love amish people"

I think now I don't even think twice about things. I have seen too many strange things. Anywhere from using the bathroom in a fitting room, to having prechers who are married ask people on my staff out, to stealing pots and pans out of the store next door. I have been stalked and had to call the cops on people who signed a tresspassing order and decided to come back in again. Oh I can't forget about the shoplifters that shot a hole in my lexus, that was about to be shown in a car show. Nothing shocks me anymore. |
