| Dog walking fashion and function! I'm one of those people who's horribly out of touch with what's in fashion. If I had my choice, I'd wear black sweatpants with a black long sleeve yoga top everywhere I go. I will NOT wear clothes that aren't comfortable no matter how good they look! I will wear jeans, but even then I tear them off as soon as I get home to get into my cotton sweatpants lol... Honestly though, I do realize that I look like a complete hobo when I walk my dog. So I need some help. And lately my boyfriend has been calling me goth girl because I'm going through this "everything I buy must be black" phase. I don't know if I just hate stains on my clothes or if I'm just frustrated trying to match stuff.
So fashionistas.... what do you wear to walk your dog in style |

| Re: Dog walking fashion and function! Don't feel bad I'm the same way. I wear either my pjs, windbreaker pants or my boxer shorts almost all day every day. The only time you'll ever see me dressed up is if I absolutely must.
I just wear my windbreakers or jeans, a t-shirt, and a hoodie on a walk since it's been getting cold. I figure I shouldn't have to dress up to pick up poop or walk the dog. |

| Re: Dog walking fashion and function! I wear my clothes from the day before because, in the woods, you don't want to wear anything clean! Wet, muddy dogs are everywhere! That being said, I am the jeans and sneakers kind of person. |

| Re: Dog walking fashion and function! if i was walking in the woods i wouldn't worry about it but i walk in a small town and am constantly running into people i know.
the absolute worst outfit I've ever been seen in was a pair of black sweatpants with holes in them cut off at the mid calf and a black tank top with a built in bra (but uh... not good support) with flip flops. it was really hot, I was tired, and we decided to take the dog to the trail nearby. since it's dark in there and I was feeling lazy I didn't shave my legs. of course right before we get to the trail we were stopped, there was a group of about 100 people waiting by the trail because some kid had fallen down a cliff and had to be airlifted out.
so there I am standing with my hairy legs, no makeup, holes/cut off sweatpants in front of a group of 100 people. of course my SO the social butterfly wants to stay to watch the action for a while, then proceeds to talk to about 6 different people he knows. meanwhile i'm dying of embarassment wanting to jump off a cliff myself lol. |

| Re: Dog walking fashion and function! The colder it gets, the less I care about how I look. Within two months, I'll be walking the dog wearing thermal longjohns and long sleeve thermal shirt, one or two sweatshirts, jeans, three pairs of socks, two pairs of gloves, boots, coat, hat and scarf. It takes me longer to dress for a walk than the walk itself. I end up like that kid in A Christmas Story, "I can't put my arms down!"
There's a part of me that LOVES dressing up. I'm attracted to anything that's soft, shiny, silky or sparkly. But in reality? I have a tomboy lifestyle, and even if Stacy and Clinton from What Not To Wear made me over, I'd be back in my jeans and hoodies in no time.
But I'm past the "everything black" stage. That ended when I got a white cat. |

I'm a guy and I'm awful. Usually I wear a t-shirt and jeans and I wear a peacoat or blazer over it. But I also have to fix my hair and everything before I go out. Now whenever Jak even smells hair gel he runs to the door... Usually I just run into old people for some reason. But I better safe than sorry I guess. |

| Re: Dog walking fashion and function! You gotta figure, if your dog is cute enough, people won't be looking at you anyways...that's what I figure. Sometimes I'll change out of sweatpants into jeans for a walk, but that's mostly because after I've loaded my pockets with treats, poop bags, cell phone and keys, my sweats are sagging too much to be practical, and jeans with a belt stay up better. |

To walk my dog I just wear jeans or sweatpants, a t-shirt, sneakers, and a sweater or jacket if it's cold. I don't bother with the make-up or anything. I do know what you mean about running into someone you know whenever you don't look your best though. When I'm all grunged out and don't care about what I look like and I'm just running to the store or something I always run into someone I know, it never fells. The older I get though the less it fazes me. |

Most days t-shirt, shorts & flip flops-But that's why I live in FL right??
Today I didn't of bother to change out of my scrubs (I wasn't around any germy people today-I had a class). I need be on one of those shows where they give you 5k for a new wardrobe! |

Of course, maybe I only say that because I have a boyfriend of four years...but still, I met him by just being my grungy self! |

| Re: Dog walking fashion and function! I'm a teacher and I live in the same neighborhood as my school, so I have to look presentable at pretty much all times. Presentable and fashionable are definitely two different things, though! There's no way I'm gonna go out of my way to look good for the dog... I have a couple pairs of jeans and a couple of tshirts that I wear whenever I'm working with dogs (at home or at the shelter). I go back and forth between these, along with a pair of running shoes and a jacket if it's cold. |

| Re: Dog walking fashion and function! LOL when I met my boyfriend I was wearing a pair of jeans and some muddy boots and a M*A*S*H t-shirt (lol does anyone here even know what M*A*S*H is? probably not. i'm old!) with my hair in a pony tail at the coffee shop by my house. I was at least wearing makeup though. Mind you, I was also blonde. Apparently he has a thing for blondes. Now that I'm back to brunette all I can say is ... "SUCKER!" :P |

| Re: Dog walking fashion and function! I get a weird, unclean feeling whenever I wear sweatpants. I love and must wear jeans or cargo shorts (I know, I'm a girl, but I LOVE them) Whenever I wear a bra it ends up ripped off halway through third period math, and makeup ends up rubbed off/ all over my face/ into my eyes. I'm such a screw up ;/ lol |

| Re: Dog walking fashion and function! Annamarie, I was born the night of the M*A*S*H series finale. My parents had chipped beef and toast while they watched and my mom actually went into labor during the show, but didn't mention it until it was over.
I watch it in reruns |

| Re: Dog walking fashion and function! No knocking M*A*S*H, I love that show lol...too bad broadcast channels don't seem to show reruns :-( The hubby makes fun of my but I love watching that show whenever it's one
If I'm just walking around my apartment I make absolutely 0 effort to look nice, lol. As long as I'm comfortable and not actually going to offend anybody by making the neighbors think a homeless person is walking through their neighborhood, I'm fine.
If I actually *go* somewhere with Kim (petstore, dog park, hiking, whatever) I'll usually wear jeans (anything nicer and potential muddy pawprints is an issue) and a decent shirt (something hardy for hiking, something nice for real, civilized places). Maybe just like a fitted blouse and my either my corduroy or pea coat, since it's getting colder? If nothing else I can claim I'm a college kid and can't afford new clothes |

When I think about it, if I ever got married I'd stop trying completely, I'd just lay around in my underwear :P. But until then I'm just gonna have to keep looking presentable, I don't mind so much really but Jak gets annoyed when I take too long getting ready. He's actually lied down in front of the door and sighed once.. |

| Re: Dog walking fashion and function! Usually I am covered in grease or hydraulic oil from work. So when I have some time to be yuck free I try to do myself up. The people that know me call me the chameleon, They say I clean up good
As for the dog walking fashion. Just a pair of shorts and a tank during the warm season and 16 layers during the cold.. I just recently bought me some walking pants that dont have that scratchy sound. I am sure you know what I am talking about. Almost like windbreaker material, But without the scratchy noise. The sound sometimes reminds me of a chalkboard and fingernails. And if I focus on it too long itll send me running to change lol |

| Re: Dog walking fashion and function! I sit at a computer all day and only have to go into an office for a half day, so it's all casual for me. I have crappy jeans and dressy jeans.
So I walk my dogs in whatever I'm wearing for the day.
Comfortable shoes are mandatory. I hate heels or painful dress shoes (though I do have some heels for dress-up days). I love my Merrells. I think I have 4 or 5 pairs of them, from sneakers to water shoes to calf-length black boots that feel like sneakers.
And I love slip-on shoes. They're great if you hate tying shoe laces, and fast to put for when those dogs gotta go. |
