An eventful day at school

Well it was a normal day at school when around 8:30 the assistant principle comes on the intercom and says that we are on lock down and to lock the doors and to not release the students anywhere. We had to stay in 1st block 30 minutes over. The reason being is that a student brought two pellet guns that looked like real guns to school and he put the gun up to this other guy's face over a girl. So the guy told the teacher and the teacher had the cops come up and search the guy to get the guns but they couldn't find any. Just about that time two girls ran out of school and were being chased by local police, school security, and the k-9 unit. It turns out he gave the guns to the girls who tried to escaped but were knocked down and arrested by the police. Then for the remainder of the day students weren't allowed outside of class because they knew people would stand out in the halls and gossip. Then if you really needed to go out you had to be escorted by security. So it was a pretty eventful day. lol

Here is a video of the story on the news,

Jeez, I'm glad no one was hurt.

Some dumb kid's pride was hurt, though, to the degree he threatened another with a pellet gun. I don't know what is up with kids these days that they have to settle "respect" disputes with cowardly actions. In the news a while back, some thug shot and killed a teenage girl because she refused his kiss and giggled at him.

Ugh. Thats so stupid. My highschool and junior high have been on lock down before too. Schools really need to get better law enforcement, my highschool had huge fights on a weekly (sometimes daily) basis and we only had three officers on campus. It was such a joke, any student knew what kinda shady stuff was going on, but the cops just stand there. This situation seems way too common these days. Kids these days!

Re: An eventful day at school

I feel so bad for kids in school these days. Yes it was hard for me in school, much harder than it was when MY parents went to school... but nothing compared to how it is now. It's absolutely ridiculous that kids fear for their lives in an environment meant for learning. In my day you might get beat up by one or a group of kids but never were weapons involved (rarely!).

If I have kids I don't know how I'm going to send them to school. I would rather homeschool or send them to private school I think.

We only have one police officer at our school and two security guards. There has been many times where the faculty will have to break up fights because security can't get there fast enough. But it doesn't make it easier when the whole school runs to where the fight is and circle the people having the fight which makes it hard for security to get to him as it takes forever for a security guard to get thru the crowd just to get to the fight.
