| Re: What is the easiest pet to take care of? I think fish are the easiest, but that is only if you have a large tank. My smaller tanks are harder to take care of because they have to be cleaned more often but my 55 gallon only has to be cleaned monthly or later but I have two large filters on the tank so I don't have to clean as often. Hermit crabs are the hardest I think as you have to constantly monitor and regulate the temperature and humidty and you have to spray the tank to keep the humidty up. Plus they stink your room up as well. |

| Re: What is the easiest pet to take care of? I can't really vote because I haven't owned most of those pets. I would probably argue that dogs are the hardest to own (as in, require the most time, effort, and money), followed probably by cats, then the other pets that generally live in cages but still need vet care (birds, ferrets, rabbits, rodents, etc.), then maybe fish and the like, but I really am not sure. We had a few goldfish when I was much much younger (I barely remember them) and while they sure seemed easy to take care of, I do recall that most of them died pretty quickly, so obviously we weren't taking care of them well enough!! |

| Re: What is the easiest pet to take care of? I think a hermit crab would be the easiest. Not much manitance, you can get away with cleaning their cage once a week or sometimes less and they never have to be walked. A fish would be second in my oppinon only because you have to clean their bowls more often. |

| Re: What is the easiest pet to take care of? Fish don't die fast, I have had the same fish for 4 or more years! If you care for hermit crabs properly, not just in a critter cage, then they are hard work. |

| Re: What is the easiest pet to take care of? man Ferrets and Birds are some of the hardest ones to take care of.
Fish are pretty hard once you have to clean their tanks or if you have a salt warter tank that needs constant attention. Even in little fish bowls, you have to change the water all the time and if you do it incorrectly the fish dies.
I would have to say Cats personally. Just feed, water and clean their litter and your done. My cat has been the easiest thing to take care of out of all the pets I've ever had. |

| Re: What is the easiest pet to take care of? Cat, no contest. Fish, you have to clean the tanks, when they get sick no one knows how to do anything (no tests, vets know nothing about fish). Ferrets, stinky and they get into everything (It seems they need a lot of care needs). Hermit crabs....I would say are hard to keep alive. Rodents (and Guinea Pigs) the cages need to be cleaned all the time and they chew on everything (if its in their cage it will be chewed). Birds are so picky and are sensitive and fragile (and very very messy, they make for lots of clean up), if they arent satisfied they will pluck their feathers out. Dogs (everyone on this forum knows...). Turtles, I actually have no idea about them, the ones in tanks I guess my fish opinion would go for them too.
Cats you give food, water and change the litter box occasionally. Throw some toys on the ground and most will be happy (or even better...catnip!). |

I have to agree with Inga and Curb. My next pet will be a Chia Pet or a Pet Rock. |

| Re: What is the easiest pet to take care of? I can say for a fact ferrets nor rabbits are the easiest. Having had a rabbit for 8 years and my sister has three ferrets. They can't live in a cage like a hamster. They have to get out and play. Ferrets need at least 4-7 hours a day of free/play time. And vet care is super expensive.
I voted for fish. My family has owned everything on that list except a turtle and a bird and I know they aren't the easiest lol.
So fish or Hermit crab it is. |

No that's terrible to put a ferret or guinea pig in a roll around ball. She has a ferret proofed room that she lets them out is. They have a four story (6' X 4') cage to go to sleep in and get out at night. They have tunnels, tubs, cubes, a play bin, a all kinds of toys to play with. And of course when Teddie gets to go play. |

They can get tangled up in wires, etc. Ferrets are curious animals and find ways into EVERYTHING. Honestly, I hate my sister's ferret because she is such a chore. I always have to watch where I walk, watch the dog when she's out, etc. And she smells repulsive! |

By no means should she smell repulsive. Does she just let her ferret run free? |
