Since I'm on IRC (internet relay chat) all day for my job, I decided to start a chat room on freenode for this forum. The channel is #dogforums and I envision it to be a place for casual chat and for members to get to know each other better. Show up if you like, I'll be sitting in there. Type the word "ping" to get my attention. And no worries if no one shows up - just thought I'd throw this idea out there.
If you have an IRC client, connect to the freenode server irc.freenode.net and join #dogforums
If you have no clue what an IRC client is, go to this site to connect via your web browser:
http://java.freenode.net/
type your desired nickname in the first box and then type "dogforums" in the box below it. Then click connect.
some IRC basics:
to change your nick type: /nick <name>
to join a channel (room) type: /join #<channel name>
to register your nick type: /ns register <password>
to identify (sign in as yourself after you have registered) type: /ns identify <password>
