Angry Clothes for dogs are wrong!

I feel so sorry for Tinkerbell. She has to wear clothes, jewlery, and even match Paris's appearence. I don't dress up my chihuahua. Here are 3 reasons why.#1. It's cruel to animals. #2 what kind of dog matches with their owner?
And #3 My chihuahua is a boy! Does anyone else feel like dogs (and chihuahuas ) shoudn't wear anything?! Well except for their fur!

P.S. Tinkerbell is Paris Hiltons Dog.(Just so you know)

Ryder and Kaiden wear a bandana almost everyday. They seem to like them, they know it means they get to go.

Ryder also has a winter coat. He will NOT go outside without it when its cold. He is a Great Dane, so its not a cutesy thing, his is actually practical. I do believe that short fine haired dogs (Great Danes, Boxers, Boston Terriers, Chihuahuas for example) benefit from a coat in the winter.

I dont think clothes are cruel, UNLESS the dog doesnt like them. If your dog panics its not a good thing.

I agree^^^^^^^^^

i totally agree ^ with you on that ^ unless the dog feels uncomfortable or doesnt like the clothes then it is diffrent, but putting on a little doggy sweater or a bandana doesnt seem like cruelelty....... but everyone has their own opinion?

I don't think it's cruel, but don't see the point in it either!
I did have a sweater for my shelties for their walks in the cold.

Elsa tolerates a rain coat on poor weather days...it's mostly for my convenience in clean up, she could care less about getting wet in the rain.

While I understand what you're saying, Sebastian is a toy poodle and he wears sweaters because he gets cold, especially in the winter after he gets his hair cut. He doesn't seem to mind wearing them one bit...he even sits nicely while I put them on him.

well my min pin wears a coat outside she gets all excited when she sees it in my hands no its not cruel that would be like you going out side in the winter with out a coat on and with the little ones that only wiegh 10 pounds and under would get colder faster than a 50lb and up

its so like me to always play devils advocate...

alright.. personally i think there is nothing wrong with dogs wearing clothes. HOWEVER, if your dog has long fur and u are slapping a sweater over it when its 10 degrees below the perfect temperature... please gimme a break. dogs have fur for a reason, i'm sure they will let you know when they are actually cold. second, make sure u stay realistic about how your dog is REALLY feeling about what he/she is wearing. just earlier today i saw on youtube that this crazy lady put 4 tennis shoes on her shiba and it looked miserable and trying hard to get the darn things off but all u hear is the lady in the most annoying high pitched voice going "AWWWW how precious! hes dancing.. Oh he loves to dance yessssss he does!!!"
third and lastly, be functional. accessories are junk, dogs dont need necklaces, purses and shades. they hate them. it gets in the way of their freedom. if u want to dress something up, buy yourself a barbie doll, build a build-a-bear, but please dont make innocent dogs suffer, them too have diginity.

I have sighthounds, which everyone knows are very lean dogs (no, they are not too skinny when you can see their ribs). I live in a kind of cold climate in the winter time, because of my elevation. There is absolutely nothing wrong with dressing them to keep warm, since they would rather be outside, frozen or not (except the Basenjis, since the hound gene skipped them apparently).

Instead of forcing them to be inside and watch them whine at the door, they are let outside, and have things to keep them warm. They play just the same. I even have jackets that match them all together for when we go out.

I don't think it is cruel unless you are putting a large dog in a x small shirt or something. It can be rediculous but it can be nice in the winter for short hair dogs.

I disagree with you completly! I have my maltese sometimes wear sweaters b/c when i got him he had to be completly shaved b/c of the way he as treated (he was very very matted). And it was during the winter. I still keep is coat short so he gets very cold outside and shivers.

At times I feel that it's ridiculous that I have to dress my dog up because until I got my chi a few months ago I've only had my flat coated retriever (who doesn't wear any jackets, raincoats, sweaters etc.)

My chihuahua is from Mexico. He is very lean (he carries no extra body fat, and although he has really great muscles, he doesn't have a whole lot of meat on him! Because he is from mexico directly he is VERY light coated. He is virtually hairless from the bottom of his neck (where a body harness would start) to his bum (insides of back legs included)

Little dogs have a LOT of surface area for their size - much more than a large dog, which lets heat escape really easily. They also have erect ears, which help to release heat, and the short-haired variety specifically have very little coat.

Weater Permitting Pedro doesn't wear anything. But, this time of year when it's cold out, he does. He even has to wear sweaters in the house because I am a "God it's hot in here" kind of person - I keep my thermastat at 15 degrees, and if it gets colder than that, it turns on, but if it stays at that temperature everyone else is happy. I can't cook my fish and my guinea pigs, myself or my boyfriend just to keep pedro warm when he's inside - and if I did it would make it VERY cold for him when he went outside - it would feel like stepping out of a sauna into snow!

He wears comfortable sweaters (either cotton or knitted) that do not restrict movement, rub him anywhere, cause him discomfort, or irritate his skin in any way. He loves his sweaters. And if we go outside when it's raining out, he gets a rain coat to keep him dry.

I work at a 'boutique' type pet store in a very snobby part of Victoria, and we sell some pretty silly things - dresses, and necklaces for dogs etc - I think that things like that are fun for the odd occasion (assuming that they fit the dog well and the dog doesn't mind!) but I think that they are pretty ridiculous.

I don't dress up my chihuahua because I want a "bruiser" from legally blond or a "tinkerbell" from paris hilton. I give him warm sweaters because he gets cold.

My chihuahua is treated like a 'big dog' in every way - we expect manners out of him, he has rules and expectations to meet, he walks on a leash like a 'real' dog (I don't carry him around everywhere) etc.

I think it would be unfair to him to bring him all the way here from Mexico, and expect him to just 'tough it out'. He was not meant to live in a colder, very wet climate.

What I think is unfair to animals is when they are expected to wear HEAVY raincoats with thick fleecy linings and thick sweaters when they are NOT dogs that need it!

I dress my dog up. I also paint her nails, and buy her fancy collars, and bathe her once a week I use whitening shampoo, and makes her really pretty

She only has jackets and sweaters when it's cold

I put a coat that I made for Starla on her because the weather is getting cooler here in Ontario and she is a eskipoo, she has more of the American Eskimo in her than poodle, she has very thin hair and under her belly she has almost no hair, so its to keep her warm. She does not mind wearing it. What she hate is the gentle lead.

My papillon only weighs 5 pounds and still has her puppy fur. When it is cold she shakes and that is when she gets a sweatshirt. She also refuses to go out in the rain without her raincoat. I also have a winter coat for her when it is really cold out. I do not dress her in cutesey things just for kicks, for instance, I did not put her in a costume. But I will put something on her to keep her warm when she shakes.

I have a shih/tzu and she wears a sweater and sometimes a jogging type suit with a hood,Cruelty to animals I dont think so, and actually for her if it wasnt for her wearing her sweater the bite she received from my other female would have been a whole lot worse, since she is cut short for grooming my vet recommed she wear it daily

Unhappy Yeah...

Yeah...
My family is always putting my lab into this ridiculous jersey, and I can't stand it! I always tell them that if they would like to be stuffed into a football outfit while wearing a fur coat keep doing it to Reilly...
They kept doing it after that saying they wouldn't mind. They'd love to be all 'pretty'...
That's not what I meant...
