| Well I don't really like the idea of putting an animal into a little outfit just so people can coo over it...
It's just not right... |

| There's a big difference between putting on an outfit for people to 'coo over', and putting on a sweater or rain jacket for a short-coated dog that gets cold. |

| Totaly!!! Yeah, you're right! closes for dogs are wrong! Sometimes it annoys them so much that yhey go absolutely crazy! Growling, snarling, and going plain bonkers!!! And w2hen you try to take it off, it's like horrible man! "Bite Me!" That's the only vibe i ever get. My grandma's dog use to wear little jackets when she went outside in the winter, but that was appropriate because she would have froze otherwize, but for intertainment, it is just plain sick!!!!
You're right: clothes are bad for dogs. Spread the word!
Peace Out Homeyz! |

| Okay I get it peoples. lol. Some might think it's not good to dress up a dog and some think it is. Ok, sweaters, coats, i'm fine with that, but t-shirts and tank tops, now that I hate. When it's cold, sweaters and coats are a ok. T-shirts are what I hate. And nail polish, yes siry DEAR GOD!!!! |

| Just my opinion Dogs have dignity just as much as any human person would! I agree to this whole "animal injustace" thing against clothes. I like to make it like me: short and sweet.
If animals don't perticularly want to wear clothes, then people shouldn't make them. if they don't mind or like to have a little more warmth (equaly outside most often) then go ahead and they will let you know what they think about the whole dreesing up deal.
Where I live the winter is harsh and the summer is hot. Sometimes our temperature can be anywhere from -15 to 105! So we would always have to let my grandparent's old poodle outside only as long as she had a sweater on in winter. (I felt bad for her, but she was greatful to have it on at the moment anyhow!)
I think as long as the animal in comforatable with the idea, they will always let you know what their decision will turn out to be. |

| There's nothing wrong with dog clothing if the dog is comfortable with it. Since I do a lot of pet photography, my dogs have a drawer full of costumes, t-shirts, decorative ruffs, etc. I prefer the things like ruffs because they go around their necks easily.
Now there are a lot of dog t-shirts that aren't made correctly. I bought one a few years back that has arms that are way too small and would definitely hurt my dogs if I tried to put it on. It sits unused in the drawer until I can cut the arms off it.
Also, I have dog raincoats etc. for weather.
Although, when I dress up my dogs, it's only for taking pictures, or the occasional party/gathering. I do think it's a bit ridiculous to dress those little dogs up like children on a daily basis. Not cruel, but ridiculous. I'm not talking about giving a cold, short-haired dog a sweater though. That is perfectly acceptable.
There is also nothing wrong with a whitening shampoo. It keeps a white dog clean. What does that even have to do with dressing dogs up? All that is is cleanliness. >O.o< |

| Stella has a "wardrobe" consisting of two jackets for her for cold weather. She only has a choice in coats because we left her one behind a couple of weeks ago while away for the weekend, and she was cold. Luckily, a vendor had a nice selection, so now she has two! They are more along the lines of tiny horse blankets and are water resitant and fleece lined. Stella is highly active and not a big eater, so her high output and low input keeps her very trim and lean...and chilly in the winter months. She gets them just to keep her warm, especially when she's laying around (rare). Stella isn't big on wearing much of anything (I've replaced her collar and tags several times in the last year), and doesn't seem to get the point of her coats, as I've seen her leap into ponds when it was below freezing in them
Otherwise, I'm pretty much morally aposed to clothes I don't even like bandanas. I did breakdown to peer pressure from my roommate at Haloween and put a bandana on Stella so she could match her best pal, Zen. To each their own, though. As long as doggy is comfy and not mortified, I suppose clothes are fine for those who like them. |

| its not that i have anything against people for dressing up their dogs. yes some needs a sweater and they love it because they are skinny of short furred. different kinds of dogs span across different levels of domestication.
but... how much is too much?
what most people dont understand, and cannot tell the difference for their lives between the differences of what is pratical/cute and what is purely beyond over the top accessorizing and tourture. there is nothing one can say to convince me that dogs need things like sunglasses, hats, shoes..etc
how would u like it if your parents bleached your skin without your consent when u were young? do u have any idea how toxic nail polish can be? have u considered what washing your dog with a whitening shampoo might do to its fur and skin? have u actually, realistically made sure you dog is happy with it all?
this is what i tell people when i think they are insanely infatuated with dressing their dogs; if u truly love them, dont hurt them. buy them diamond collars and $500 dog sweaters. feed them expensive dog food that may make their fur look better. but if u want to play dress up human (or in this case, michael jackson) styled, adopt a baby or buy a barbie doll.
this is my final words on this subject. u cannot tell me it is wrong not to hurt a dog. hurt isnt defined solely by physical pain, but if u are applying products to your dogs inspired by human beauty needs then u should reconsider their side effects (long term and short term) on the dog. i am not saying one should take daily comforts such as warmth away, there is nothing wrong with having a dog in clothes, but one needs to be realistic in dressing a dog up. |

| My dogs are tall and very lean, so sometimes the cold weather is not their best friend. I often have to put t-shirts on them to keep thtier bodies warm, and booties for their feet. They are big runners/coursers, so their legs stay pretty hot on their own.
My Sphynx cat has to wear a sweater, even in the summer sometimes.
I agree with animals wearing clothes for protection from the elements, or a quick photoshoot if they don't mind it. Forcing an animal to be your personal fashion accessory, such as Paris Hilton does with her animals, is wrong. She needs a reality check, and she also needs to stop buying these exotic animals that she doesn't know the names of, just so she can say she has them. I'm completely against her, she's one of the worst role models for young girls today. |

| I don't think there is anything wrong with the dogs wearing cloths. everybody puts collers on their dogs and they don't like it at first and we all get collers that are cute, pretty, or that match their personality. so what is the differerance. |

| i DO NOT agree that putting clothes on a dog is cruel...my dogs bring me their sweaters when there too cold! if it were cruel wouldnt they try and hide them or hide from me when i was putting them on? nope my guy shave acces to thier clothes basket at all times and bring me a sweater if they want it...
however i do think theres a limit to it, when your dressing your dog up because the dog is more your acessory than your companion (ie matching outfits not because the dog needs it or wants it but because oh my god it matches your outfit) then theres an issue...
I do feel sorry for ANY pet that paris hilton gets her hands on. NOT because she dresses them up, but because those poor dogs are not her companions there her acessories...and when one goes out of fashion get rid of it and find a new one... THAT is much cruler than a sparkly collar, or a pretty jacket! |
