Has anyone fed Kirkland's?

I switched my pup to Costco's Kirkland's Super Premium dry food. Has anyone tried this food? Is it a good food? I heard that it is good.

Thanks

I have heard that it isn't a very good food. Just check the ingrediants and find out if there are any filler (ie. corn, chicken by-product- or any by product). Thise are called fillers and are not good for your dog. They also make them poop more.

Yep...you could do much better than kirklands . Here's a good site for food analysis - anything in the 4,5 and 6 category is pretty good.

Re: Has anyone fed Kirkland's?

Actually, I was feeding Kirkland Signature chicken and rice. The ingredients list is very good and my dogs did well on it. It scores high when compared to other foods regarding content. Look in the food forum for a food quality calculator by CaptBob. You can find it by doing a search up at the top of your screen.

I'm thinking if you can buy it at Costco, it's not very good.

Kirkland brand is made by Diamond. And they will gladly refund your money if you're not happy. They also carry some less than premium dog foods but their signature brand rates very high.

Re: Has anyone fed Kirkland's?

I have recently switched from California Natural to Diamond 60+ and Diamond Lamb and Rice. I am a big believer in good food, but I am also a believer in not breaking the bank. I feed Canidae, California Natural and Innova and like Diamond Naturals as much. I agree the others have some better ingredients and the price reflects that, but honestly my Great Dane is doing better on Diamond. He has severe allergies so his food is very important, but is doint so much better on Diamond then he was on the super premium food. I am not at all bashing the other brands, I believe they are SUPER foods, but they were not for us. I will stay with Diamond as long as my dogs do well on it.

(Diamond does have lower quality foods, and I in no way recommend them. This includes anything outside of their "naturals" line, and even those I read the ingredients first. I would never feed Maintenance, Professional etc)

Re: Has anyone fed Kirkland's?

A few months ago I came across a rating system that rated foods according to the quality of ingredients. That system rated Canidae at 112 and the same system rated Kirkland Signature Chicken, Rice and Vegetables at 110.

You know you're right. I must have been thinking about one of their other brands because the Kirklands Signature Chicken and Rice doesn't look that bad at all. The only thing I can see that could be problematic would be the beet pulp.
