| Re: FDA finds recalled food still on shelves... I cringed this morning when I saw several people in my travels (looking for the best dog bed for our puppy so was at quite a few pet stores this morning)
stocking up on recalled brands, especially canned foods. I had this incredible urge to reach over and look at UPC codes on the cans. You have to be living in a cave to not have heard about this recall.
And my daughter is dogsitting this weekend for the elderly neighbor's wheaten. They brought over some Ol' Roy food and treats. I can't even stand to bring it in the house so it's sitting out in the garage. The wheaten ate our premium food with great gusto this morning and continued on with some home made milkbone biscuits! I have never understood feeding Ol' Roy to any animal, even before the recall. But the idea of thinking it's a safe product right now is just beyond my wildest imagination.
In light of this experience today, if you have some neighbors, co-workers, friends...who feed their animals (dogs or cats) a product that is on the recall list, be sure that they know to return the product they have and don't buy any more of the same. It is still not safe to purchase those brands. Obviously some people still haven't gotten the message. |
