Changing to raw food for my dogs-what a change

It has only been a little over a month, on dehydrated raw, my dogs are 7 &9, my male has three fatty tumors, and it looks like the largest one has shrunk a little both my wife and I agree, and the two other ones are now hard to find/feel. I am sure this is a little premature speculation, but if this can keep them from enlarging what a blessing!

My first dog was a dry food purina only dog, and was just covered with fatty tumors, I just wonder if dry kibble food has a connection to this problem?

The only draw back is dirty beards,(small price to pay), but very happy dogs!

It's nice to hear stories about the magic of raw. Glad your dogs are doing well on it. I will be trying raw for the first time in a few weeks. My girl Lucy has IBD and I am hoping it will allow me to discontinue prednisone. Leroy has many benign fatty lumps too, from what i hear it is a weimaraner thing, but it could be kibble related too....

I really hope the change will improve noticeably for your dogs. BTW, I get my food ordered from your state, Minn. I am using the dehydrated and I add the meats and poultry etc. So I do not have to deal with the chicken bones, and taking there meal from there bowl and go under the bed to eat it

I think this is very close to true raw, but at any rate I can definately say way above kibble.

One thing that has changed there energy level has really jumped, so much so that if I do not increase day time activities, my female wants to get up at 3AM and go out side for play. lol longs they do not bark what the heck

So happy to hear this-- what sweet looking dogs!! It took me a sec to realize then two on the rt. are stuffed--LOL! I've been feeding raw for the past 12 yrs. based on the breeders recommendation. Once in a great while-- usually while traveling I do feed a small amount of kibble w/ cooked meat or fish. It's hard to convince room service in certain hotels to send up raw bones & organs-- mostly on the east coast.

Which raw dehydrated do you use??

I don't know how long your out of town for. But I bring an ice box with daily meals packaged inside. And room service is always willing to bring to bring up more ice if yours as started to melt.

I have found that with a lot of the airlines checking the cooler w/ the food is a problem. I'm in NYC right now and went Whole Foods to get the dogs' food. They were very accommodating. I got a suite w/ a full kitchen so now storing the food is not an issue. Most hotels view sending up raw food as a liability/health code violation.

I wasn't even considering flying. My dogs travel with me to conformation shows, and that is always a road trip.

WOW congrats. From what I heard feeding raw foods. increases a dog's immunity to cancer cells.

Wonderful! While not a cure-all, raw can help with a lot of problems. Been feeding raw for more than a year and am never going back to kibble if I can help it. I just wish that I could afford to feed nothing but raw to both of my dogs.
