My Husky/Akita mix is having eating problems

First I will give some background info on my dogs eating history.

Puppy Chow - Birth - 2months
Purina One Large Breed Puppy - 2months -4months
Cannidae Chicken and Rice - 4months-7months
Innova Evo Red - 7months - 8months
TOTW HP - 8months - currently

He loved puppy chow, Purina one, and cannidae and he would always finish his food with no toppers or anything. When I put him on Innova, he would never finish his meal and he would always have diarrhea. Then I tried TOTW HP and enjoyed it for about a week now he wont eat it without something mixed in. I usually mix in some veggies or boiled chicken breast.

I want him to be able to eat his food normally without adding in mixers. Also, when I put TOTW or Innova down he smells it and walks away and refuses to eat it. To test my theory I borrowed some Puppy Chow from a friend and my dog loves it. I want him to be on a good diet so I prefer him to have premium food.

Does anybody have any suggestions? Or can recommend me a new dog food. Or if im going to have to keep mixing his food, what would be a good canned mixer (Ive tried Wellness Core 95% chicken and he likes it but it seem like he only licks off the canned food and does not eat the kibble).

I would go back to cannidae but I keep reading horror stories about their food. Also, he just got neutered this week but the problems have been going on since the switch to innova evo.

Go back to Canidae if he did well on it. The people with horror stories are people with dogs that did NOT do well on it. There must be a lot of dogs that do just fine, the stuff is still sold. I used to feed it and my dogs were fine. The company makes changes in the kibble from batch to batch and dogs get upset from the fairly minor changes. From feeding my bunny I learned to mix new and old kibble even if feeding the same brand and flavor.

I tried to switch to EVO when it first came out. I fed half of what Max had had on the previous kibble and even though I fed through 2 large bags he never stopped having sloppy poop. I was over feeding it. I was lucky, it was only a nuisance and he never associated the poop with the food with any discomfort. Seems your dog has made the association.

I would hate to toss out expensive kibble. Try feeding a lot less and mixing the canned food well in, even adding a bit of water.

Part of the issue could be age as well. He knows he won't starve if he misses a meal so is waiting for something better to come along.http://www.dragonflyllama.com/%20DOG.../TeachEat.html You might try reading through this link's advice and applying it.

If I had a healthy dog that decided my offering was beneath him I would pick up the food and only feed the amount the dog actually ate for a couple meals. As in he ate 3 kibbles at breakfast. Dinner is 3 kibbles. Breakfast is 3 kibbles. When 3 kibbles is eagerly and quickly eaten, 6 kibbles the following meal. If that amount is eaten quickly the next meal can be 12 kibbles. If this is a tiny dog then feed more often. 8 AM, 12 PM, 4 PM, 8 PM until a reasonable amount of food is eaten in a reasonable amount of time.
