Who's feeding EVO to a Lg Breed Pup?

I read on another thread that it was not recommended for large breed puppies because of the cal/phos ratio.
I'm just curious who on here has a dog to mature over 50+ lbs that's been feeding it and has a healthy pup...

Nevermind... must have been misinformation. I just compared C/P ratios of several large breed puppy formulas to EVO and found they were identical.

I would at least use the red meat version since it has less calcium. Why are you set on EVO? There are other foods with high protein but a lower cal/phos ratio.

Red meat is the one he will eat. He went on strike for a few weeks ... out of over 20 foods tried EVO red meat is one he eats readily. He's 8 months and within 25 pounds of where he will mature.

As for the protein being too high for a puppy... the main reason people shy away from EVO for pups is cause they tend to grow too fast for their bones...(big concern with large breeds prone to dysplasia) you just have to make sure that you keep his weight in check and that he doesn't put it on too rapidly. At 8 months his bones have slowed down, but he will still grow a bit more.

From my research, too high of a protein won't damage kidneys, but if the kidneys aren't fully developed or aren't working 100%, then you can poison your dog as they won't filter out the UREA (waste product of processed protein) which is like poison in your pup's blood. So be careful. Good Luck.

EVO is not suitable for puppies due to the high calcium. If your looking for a high protein puppy food try out Orijen large breed puppy.
