Dog Cakes

Tomorrow is Basil's 2nd birthday, and I wanted to make him a cake. All I know is, it needs to be small, like, cupcake sized, and I want to use peanutbutter as frosting =3 So far, all the recipes I've looked up make really big cakes. Personally I don't want to feed Basil any human cake, and I don't want to eat a dog cake, so a big cake is sort of a waste XD Anyways, anyone have any recipe suggestions?

Re: Dog Cakes

I always just use a cake mix for dogs that I buy at one of our local pet stores, and I pour the batter into cupcake tins. Kuma gets one cupcake for his birthday and we freeze the rest for future treats. Works well for us anyway.

Re: Dog Cakes

You should be able to scale larger recipes down, or just get creative on your own. Basically you need something thick enough to hold it's form, it doesn't have to be "cake" necessarily. Make him a "meatloaf" cake iced with peanut butter and I'm sure he'd be pleased as punch.

Or you could make a cake, use part for Basil's cupcake and the rest for an actual cake for everyone else to enjoy. Just add some extra goodies to Basil's cake and ice with peanut butter, and voila...doggie cake.

The simplest cake recipe I know is the 1234 cake

1 cup butter
1 cup milk
2 cups sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
3 cups flour
4 eggs

Bake at 350 until done. I don't know the exact bake time, but it should be around 30 minutes.

Re: Dog Cakes

So far, I think baking a meat loaf and giving Basil a peanut-butter-frosted slice sounds easiest XD I have no doubt he'll love it!

Unfortunately we have to pospone his birthday, though, because my boyfriend worked all day, and we didn't have time!
