Question Best dog food for my individual dogs??

Hello, I have been researching pet foods for MONTHS now and I have such a headache. I would ask my vet, but they always recommend science diet.... I am hoping someone here might be able to help. I have read good things about EVO and that is what I had chosen, but then I read potentially negative things about it for certain dogs and aso read good things about Wellness and Merrick and a few others. I don't know what to do! These foods are not easy to find, so switching all the time will be a challenge and I don't want to upset their tummy's by switching all the time... Then, on this message board I read that it's good to rotate the food- Can someone tell me more about that?? Anyway, here is info on both of my individual dogs.

First dog: Zoe- She will be 4yo in November. She is spayed. She is a mixed breed probably lab/shepard/terrier/who knows what else. I got her at a shelter when she was 1yo. She is very timid and nervous and makes herself throw up often. Has frequent diarrhea and seems to have a sensitive tummy. Otherwise, she is very healthy. Lean and muscular and FULL of energy- loves to run...all the time! I find it difficult to keep up with her =) She has a rough wiry coat (terrier?) and she sheds CONSTANTLY. She just went to the vet a few months ago and was reported healthy on all counts. Weight: 50-60 lbs. Currently feeding Solid Gold Hund-n-Flocken Adult Dog (lamb). (But I read somewhere that SG recently changed their ingredients and didn't tell anyone). I was thinking of switching to EVO red meat large bites and got a sample pack and she loves it, but I don't know if it will be too hard on her sensitive stomach.... (PS. I have been having difficulty lately getting her on a pooping schedule. She used to poop morning and night. Now she sometimes only poops once a day and other times won't poop till 3am and has the accident in the house. I am hoping a food change will help this.)

Second dog: Ellie- 9 months old. Not spayed. She is a poodle/schnauzer mix. I got her from a friend when she was 4 months old. A happy, well adjusted puppy. She has bundles of energy and seems very healthy. She was 15lb last time she went to the vet but is probably around 20lb now (I don't have a scale in the house and she hasn't needed a vet visit). She just went through her first heat last month. Currently feeding Solid Gold Hundchen flocken Puppy (lamb).

Ok, so I know that there is a lot of controversy when it comes to the best dog food and a lot of options and millions of variables, but I am hoping someone can provide me with some guidance here. I am NOT prepared to feed a raw diet, so please don't suggest it. It is something that I might try some day, but I am just not ready. I am curious about dry vs canned for both and which brand would be best (based on protein levels, moisture levels, fat levels, recalls, fillers, etc, etc, etc). I am also curious about supplements and maybe some foods that I could add periodically. For example, I had been giving them each a boiled egg once a week. Should I do dry food mainly and then supplement with canned once a week? There are so many questions and so little guidance. I wish vets were more helpful in this area.

Thanks for any help you can provide!!!

Stay away from Scinece diet - what a marketing powerhouse!

Best dry kibble on the market is Orijen. Evo is nice too. I'd bet my house that no dog will have "problems" on either of these. (unless allergies - but this is usually from grains)

EVO will work fine for both your dogs I think. 9 months old is old enough to start on high protein, grainless food so there should be no problems.

You could also try Orijen too. Orijen and EVO are the 2 that I like the best. I find EVO makes my dog's urinary area a little itchy (I believe it's too basic). However, I give her 2-3 cranberries a day and it fixes this problem right up. Otherwise, it's great! It keeps weight on her (I have a very picky eater, always loses weight), gives her lots of energy and tiny but very hard stools. I add a little fruits and veggie to make her a little more fiber.

Either one should be fine. Although you may want to stay away from Orijen's red meat formula because it has pork in it. It might upset your sensitive dog's tummy. Pork gives my dog very bad diarrhea and vomiting and she doesn't even have a sensitive stomach! EVO's red meat is fine. That's what I'm currently feeding actually.
