| Recommend me a good dog food I would like to start maybe mixing a little wet over dry kibble but I don't know what to use. My dog is a 2 year old Cockapoo and she eats very little. I have just found a store very close to my house that sells every kind of food on the market, so I can basically get what ever I want now, I can not belive that I drove past this place a million times and never went in to get dog food . I have heard that Innova is good also the EVO, Orijen and Nutro.
Now as I have said I would like to maybe mix a little wet over the dry, my other question is, does the wet can food have to be the same as the kibble?. Could I use Chixsoup with maybe a can of EVO?? My thoughts are now that I would like to start feeding her the Innova or the EVO. She is not really responding to the Chixsoup, but she does like BilJac. Thankyou for taking time to help me.

| Re: Recommend me a good dog food I think what you need to do is educate yourself on ingredients in dog food and then make your own decisions.
you can do that here. www.dogfoodproject.com |

| Re: Recommend me a good dog food I feed TOTW and rotate though all three varieties. It's, in my opinion, the best priced grain free food on the market right now. I can't speak for EVO or Orijen as I don't really have access to them in my area but I would personally stay away from Nutro, it made my dog sick last summer, and I'm just not comfortable feeding it after all the recalls.
With TOTW my once picky dog now never refuses her food, and I have weaned her off wet food completly. Which wasn't the case when I fed Wellness or Nutro. You may also want to try getting one of these.... Molecule Ball
or Buster Cube
The molecule ball is what got Pebbles eating again, it turned dinner time into play time and who can resist 'stealing' kibble that's fallen on the floor |

| Re: Recommend me a good dog food I use wet food as a topper for my 4 dogs. Right now 3 of them are eating Acana Pacifica kibble topped with (1 tbsp.) of a variety of high quality can food. Sometimes I use Nature's Variety Raw Medallions. Some of the can foods I use and like are Merrick, EPHS, Natural Balance, Wellness 95%, EVO, Instinct/Prairie, Blue Buffalo, etc. As you can see, I vary it quite a bit. I also mix in water, and an enzyme/probiotic and fish oil w/vit e sometimes. It is okay to use a different brand of can versus dry. A lot of can food is grain-free, just like some of the dry foods. Those are my favorites. There are also some can foods, like BG or Wellness 95%, that are only to be used as a supplemental food. In fact, Acana doesn't make a can food so I have to use a different brand lol. Just make sure the can food is a good, high quality brand like your dry food and you should be okay (read the ingredients, too).

I was reading the ingredients on the EVO and I believe that it was grain free. I was more or less concerned about the can food and kibble being compatible, like if you can use say Innova with a can of EVO or Wellness. Right now I have a bag of Chixsoup dry kibble and I wanted to maybe use a little wet food to help her eat it. I was not sure if I used a can of EVO on top if it would make her sick or not. |

| Re: Recommend me a good dog food There are many quality dog food brands out their. As was suggested educate yourself on what good quality ingredients consist of and then pick a brand that you can afford and try it. The most expensive is not always the best I might add. Different dogs have different results on a given feed and until you try one you will not know. Just make sure to gradually switch them over and give the food an honest couple of months to see the results. |
