Mixing foods (daily)-- good or bad idea?

Right now I am feeding my 1-1/2 year old German Shepherd Purina One adult dog food, but I am trying to get her to gain weight. She is pretty skinny, but just never seems to have a huge appetite, and doesn't eat but one or two cups a day (even though she always has access to food). I recently received a sample of the Nature's Select dog food, and mixed a scoop into her food and she LOVED it, gobbled down the whole dish (and she has NEVER done that before, no matter what goodies I mixed in, eggs, canned food, etc).

The problem is, I am in college and Nature's Select dog food is pretty darn expensive. So I am wondering-- would it be a bad idea to buy both kinds of food (the Purina One and Nature's Select) and mix them together when I feed her, so that the bags last longer, but my dog is getting the extra benefits of the premium brand?

As long as it doesn't cause her any upset you could mix the two. That's basically what you do to change foods anyway. And, you might find that you need enough less of a decent food to one day change over to the better quality diet all together.
