| Mixing foods (daily)-- good or bad idea? Right now I am feeding my 1-1/2 year old German Shepherd Purina One adult dog food, but I am trying to get her to gain weight. She is pretty skinny, but just never seems to have a huge appetite, and doesn't eat but one or two cups a day (even though she always has access to food). I recently received a sample of the Nature's Select dog food, and mixed a scoop into her food and she LOVED it, gobbled down the whole dish (and she has NEVER done that before, no matter what goodies I mixed in, eggs, canned food, etc).
The problem is, I am in college and Nature's Select dog food is pretty darn expensive. So I am wondering-- would it be a bad idea to buy both kinds of food (the Purina One and Nature's Select) and mix them together when I feed her, so that the bags last longer, but my dog is getting the extra benefits of the premium brand? |
