Sensitive Skin Dog Food

My dog has been itching and scratching for awhile until we put him on science diet sensitive skin, not sure what he is sensitive to, but this brand has worked so far, but is there a better food out there to replace this brand for sensitive skin?

Try to stay away from by products and corn and glutens. A lot of dogs have allergies to these ingredients. Try something fished based with limited ingredients. California natural herring and potato.

Avoid of any product that lists BHA (Butylated Hydroxyanisole) as a preservative. Many do, unfortunately. Google "BHA dog food", and you can read why this is something to not ignore.

We have a dog in the family, Gipper, who is a sensitive skin fellow. He is a yellow lab, and literally developed pustules on his skin from different dry foods. He has been doing VERY well with Wellness's "Simple Food Solutions" (different from their other standard formula).

Also, be very cautious of what you give as treats. Sooo many treats have corn/wheat, etc., and you think to yourself - well, it is just one little bone, what can it hurt? Compare it to a person with, say, a shrimp allergy. That one little shrimp can cause a world of discomfort. Read all ingredient labels, and do not get anything with wheat/corn/gluten or chemical preservatives.

Keep in mind that his allergies may extend beyond food, can include dust, mold, grass - these can also cause a topical dermatitis. Keep everything as clean as you can, use scent-free detergents, and hopefully all of these things will lead to a more comfortable pup!
