Should I add salmon oil to EVO?

I fed Orijen 6 Fish before as I've mentioned and currently Nia just switched to EVO red meat. I looked at the analysis and found that there is quite little omega 3, 6 in EVO. Probably from the lack of fish in it. I want to add salmon oil but is it a good idea to add more fat considering the kibble is already very high in fat?

I think EVO is even a little too high for my liking, I like 16-18%, EVO already has 22%! Adding more salmon oil means even high fat right? Would that even be safe? Or necessary at all?

She usually gets fruits, veg, and yogurt as supplements nothing else.

EDIT: There's also no glucosamine or chondroitin in EVO...should I add some of that too?

Have you seen the EVO Reduced fat?

If I'm reading my bad right, it's got 15.5% crude fat (max).
Only 0.5% Omega-3 fatty acids, though.

I give cosaquin once daily.

Oh it's not that I'm afraid that she will gain weight, more like I'm afraid she'll develop pancreatitis from too much fat consumption. She's a skinny dog, I swear even if she's eating butter, she won't put on too much weight because she's very active.

I'm currently on a red meat part of my rotation so I have to stick with a red meat food, no reduced fat ones.

Re: Should I add salmon oil to EVO?

I add fish oil to every food I give, for all my pets. It has "good fats," and even if the food already has fish in it, it's likely that the processing of the ingredients destroyed some or all of the more delicate fatty acids.

I wouldn't worry about the fat content of the fish oil causing pancreatitis or any other problem. Unless you're feeding, like, a tank of it.

I buy human softgels. I don't buy the stuff marketed for pets because I think it isn't as regulated. And if you buy softgels, the oil is protected from the air. Fish oil degrades quickly when it comes into contact with air.

Re: Should I add salmon oil to EVO?

I've asked several vets about glu/chon for little dogs. Most vets say that the dogs are so small that the issue of joint problems (other than luxating patellas...hereditary, not from the grinding of use over the years) is not that great in little dogs and they rarely even have patients to treat who are toy breeds. So I wouldn't worry about that one.

I wouldn't worry about too much fat, especially if you are rotating foods.

I feed EVO on rotation, and no matter what food they're on, I give salmon oil. I use the Ark Naturals Royal Coat Express bc it has omegas plus Vitamin E which the body needs to absort the oils. I love it!
