Hey fellow dog lovers! Just curious about what your favorite dog treats are and why. Do you choose them because of the ingredients, your dogs likes, packaging, etc? Has anyone tried the poochie popcorn? Is this stuff any good?

My girls like Wellness Pure Rewards, Zukes Mini's and the Iams dog bones.. I like the first two as far as ingredients go.. and the Iams bones I only buy because the dogs like them so much.. I'm not a big fan of Iams otherwise. Also, I won't buy them treats (or food or toys) that aren't made in the USA...

If I'm not buying treats though I like to give them fresh diced chicken, hot dogs and cheese. All three are big winners in their eyes.

Gatsby loves pretty much any kind of treat, although he's particularly fond of the ones that smell strongly of beef jerky... such as the soft chew sticks that are beef or chicken from Trader Joe's. We break them into smaller pieces for obedience class.

Mandie loves anything put in front of her, especially her plain Milk Bones and her breath treats. I probably should be more aware of the ingredients, like I am with her regular food, but some of them just look so tasty. I think after we go through this batch of treats (in say, oh I don't know, a year), I'd better be more careful.

for iorek i have to be extra careful about treats since he doesn't do well with grains. i really like natural balance rolls cut up for treats. also cheese is a huge hit. dehydrated beef liver is also a very loved treat. for training i like tiny pieces of hot dogs or meatballs or whatever meat that is left over from supper. when we were doing obedience with iorek we were still trying to figure out a food that worked for him (before we switched to raw) so he was eating boiled hamburger and potatoes for a bit and that was an excellent, but very messy, treat for motivating him in obedience.

his favourite in his kong is little pieces of cheese and natural balance roll mixed with some peanut butter and squished in.

right now for brom i am still not adding too many different things into his diet. most of his treats are his kibbles. he gets a little cheese and natural balance roll for training.

as a funny: iorek was given a milkbone by my FIL a few weeks ago and he actually threw it back up within 5 minutes. it is not funny that he threw up but it sure does make him seem like a food snob! "what, a milkbone?? are you nuts?? where is my cheese?!?"

For Kina and Sadie, I like the California Naturals Health bars, Wellness Wellbites and they also like the Nylabone NutriDent Edible Dental.

I like the Wellness pure rewards because I can cut them into smaller pieces for training.

Like Binkanette, I won't purchase anything that isn't made in the US or Canada.
