| Starting the switch to Blue Buffalo We just started the switch to Blue Buffalo Puppy (Chicken and brown rice) today. When we got Stella, they had her on Canidae, and after a lot of research, we realized Canidae wasn't the best for her. We mixed in the Blue Buffalo with her Canidae and she seemed to like, meaning there wasn't anything left! I'm hoping the Blue Buffalo works well with her. I feel better knowing she is on a better food. |

Blue Buffalo is an awesome food....I switched to Blue about 6 months ago and my guy is very happy. He has a sensitive stomach and Blue agrees with him 100%.........!!!!
You've made a great choice! |

| Re: Starting the switch to Blue Buffalo My dogs were such stinkers when it came to finding a canned and dry that they would eat. 6 yrs of standing on my head, fed them everything from cheapo to the ones that are endorsed and (supposed) to be 'good'. the only thing I could get them to eat was Beneful OCCASIONALLy.
I bought some blue buffalo, Wellness, and TOTW and they love all three.
I found that petsmart also sells the BB canned and they loooove it! so I mix the two. I sometimes still feed them home cooked but it is nice to know that finally I can give them something that is both good for them, and convenient for me when I'm pressed for time. |

| Re: Starting the switch to Blue Buffalo Yes...I get the Adult Chicken & Brown Rice Formula ----I tried the Lamb but my dog seems to prefer the Chicken.
I've read alot about the Wilderness Formula and am going to try it -- my Petsmart has just ordered it for me (they didn't carry it) -- The Wilderness Formula has more protein than the Adult Formula ...24% Protein in Adult Chicken & 42% Protein in Wilderness Formula.....that's the difference that I see.
You can compare on www.bluebuff.com |

| Re: Starting the switch to Blue Buffalo I just got back from Petsmart and I bought both the Wilderness and the Lamb and Rice (smaller bag) formulas. I opened the bags and the dogs REALLY went for the Wilderness over the Lamb. It really smells strong of fish, just so you are forwarned! It has whitefish meal and salmon meal in it, and boy can you tell! I suppose that's why they liked it so much, it's strong, lol.
I have never fed a grain free dog food before. This Wilderness does have oatmeal in it, but it's quite low on the ingredient list. We'll see how they do on it. BTW, your Husky is just gorgeous!!
Oh StellaKin, I'm sorry I didn't mean to hyjack your thread..I have been interested in Blue Buffalo for a while...

Dogs need a high protein diet because their gut is designed for digesting proteins, not carbohydrates. Dog foods such as BB Wilderness and Innova EVO and Orijen are all good choices. |

| Re: Starting the switch to Blue Buffalo Hi thanks for the recommendation! I did buy the Wilderness in the larger bag, but I also bought a 15 lb. bag of the Lamb formula. It appears to have a good amount of meat in it, but of course it has lots of grain too.
The dogs definately seem to prefer the Wilderness! I have always been a l ittle leary of the high protein diets, because I am not sure that it is good for their kidneys. I do feed raw meat and bones, as well, but there is a very high water content in fresh food, so that would mean the protein content is lower.
I think! |

| Re: Starting the switch to Blue Buffalo Hi, I'm new to the forums. I am a proud parent of two dogs. They have both been on Blue Buffalo for well over 2 years now without any issues. In my opinion of commercial dry food, blue buffalo is one of the better ones out there.
Both my dogs are highly picky eaters and Blue Buffalo has been one of the food they I haven't had much issues in getting them to eat. |

| Re: Starting the switch to Blue Buffalo HerseyPup, its okay for hi-jacking the thread. I like hearing about success with the food and the different kinds.
I just wanted to make a little update. Stella seems to be doing well on the BB Puppy Chicken and Brown Rice food. At first her poop was a little mushy and really dark, but they are starting to harden now. They are still really dark, which makes picking it up at night difficult. (I need a flashlight connected to the leash!) She loves all of it, even the black pieces. I'm very happy with this food. Her coat even feels softer.
Once she's a year old, we will probably switch to the Wilderness.
Thanks for everyones' comments and support. |

| Re: Starting the switch to Blue Buffalo MoonStr, I will keep everyone posted as the week's go on. Especially once we rule out the Canidae completely. And thanks for the compliment! I told Stella and she says, "Yeah, I know!" She's a little conceited. Haha. |
