| Treat Ideas for Kong... I bought a Kong to keep my pup busy while I'm away. The deal is that he doesn't care for it, it seems. At first, I stuffed it with peanut butter, which he didn't act like he liked. After that, I just stuffed various treats in it that he gets out in 2 seconds flat and doesn't touch the Kong again.
So, my question is...what do you guys use to stuff the Kongs for your dogs?
Thanks in advance!!!!! |

| I tried the PB, gave my guys the runs!
First off is the size of the kong relative to the size of your dog? Like, a mini-kong is probably not the best choice for a Dane LOL
The two main things I use that occupy them the best is frozen yogurt or canned food.
With both, I pack them in than put them in the freezer. It takes them longer to get at if it's frozen and it also lasts.
With the yogurt, because of the whole in the bottom, I just stuff a paper towel in there, fill it up, than stand it up in the freezer. When it's totally frozen, I just pull the paper towel out and give it to them! |

| Sometimes I will cram a beef chew or veal chew into the kong, and let him try to work it out
I also freeze water, plain yoghurt, peanut butter, or tinned food into the kong as a 'babysitter' if I'm feeling generous, and he loves that

| I got him the Red Kong. It was the only one that they had at the store... He's a Black Lab around 5 months. I don't know his exact age; someone abandoned him at the bottom of my driveway. It's a long story....
I'll try the yogurt idea because it's something I have on hand.
I know my pup would love some variety, so more suggestions are welcome! |

| I've used the Kong biscuits and some other commercial biscuits that happen to be the right size and shape.
I think the idea is that you're supposed to stick them in half-way, but that's no challenge, so I shove them entirely into the Kong. They are difficult to get in and nearly impossible to get out.
I watched Esther first chew and then get her tongue in there. Then she started slamming the Kong on the carpeted floor. Eventually, she hit on the idea of dropped it down the stairs repeatedly until the biscuit broke into pieces and fell out.
I don't know which of us is more entertained by the process.
I've also used the Kong fake cheese, but people and dogs in Wisconsin are offended by fake cheese. |

| We use yogurt the most, but usually mix in some fruit or veggies. Their favorite seems to be a layer smashed bananas then strawberry yogurt, repeat until its full and then freeze.
We also do pumpkin mixed with kibble and freeze |

| I use the Natural Balance Food Rolls, The dogs go nuts over them and you can easily slice them up so that they can go into the Kong but are tricky to get out, by varying the size of the pieces. It takes my dog awhile to get all of them out, but if she gets better, I can make the pieces slightly bigger. http://www.naturalbalanceinc.com/dog...s/DFRolls.html |

| I put in cottage cheese (no fat) then a few pieces of his kibble, then more cottage cheese. Into a ziplock bag, so it won't leak, then into the freezer.
If we run out of CC then I replace it with peanut butter. |

Be sure to use plain yogurt. also, if you use PB, use the natural stuff that has NO added sugar and NO artificial sweeteners as many are harmful to dogs. You could also try apple slices, my dogs love them! |
