Food shelf life

Well lets see if this thread gets as many replies as my last one. ehh probably not.

How long should dry dog food last before going bad? Because i'm almost out of my current dog food and i'm considering buying from timberwolf organics. They give a discount if you buy in bulk but it would be really bad if the food went bad before Ronin got around to eating it. So i'm just wondering if i should just buy one 33 lbs bag and wait until Ronin finishes it and then order another one or could i buy 2 of them and get the 10% off and free shipping.

I'm almost positive that an unopened bag of Timberwolf is good for a year but you might want to double check with the manufacturer just to be sure.

BTW, I've noticed that on the store locator on their website NY has been added and removed numerous times over the years. I have no idea why this is but I can get Timberwolf locally at a several different locations, its been available here for years even though NY is not always listed on their store locator.

In addition, I only pay $25.99 for a 16.5 lb bag which is actually cheaper than buying it through their website. I found this odd too.

Your store probably buys it in super bulk quantities. and even if its good up to 6 months i would be ok with it as each bag would last only a month and a half to two months or so.

I know that Solid Gold products have a 9 month shelf life - and the "best before" date is printed on every bag of their kibble. I looked, but I couldn't find any shelf life information on Timberwolf's website.

I just took a look at my bag and it has a best before date of 08/09/07 so it must last longer than I thought unopened.

A 16.5 lb bag lasts me about 6wks for two dogs (45 lbs & 6-1/2 lb dogs).
