Brandi had her first carrot today

She likes them. At first she didn't know what to do with the finger carrot I gave her. She crunched it and just played with the pieces. But she finally ate it and asked for more. I didn't give her any more just yet because I don't want any surprizes on the carpet. But it's a start for her to have more nourishing treats instead of all those dog biscuits. She is still on the kibble she was on at her other home but I will be starting her on home cooking soon.

My dogs weren't sure what to do with them at first either...they do make nice treats.

They are good for treats, but be careful giving them too many - they are actually fairly high in sugar for a veggie.

For an occassional treat, carrots are great to help clean the teeth and give puppies/dogs sweeter breath.

According to this book I have on Whole food for you dog and cats ,carrots are super good for dogs. It has homemade recipes and says a carrot a day for a dog is great for their health. My dog also really likes cucumbers. I thought that was wierd but he really likes them.I'm glad your dog liked the carrot.

Re: Brandi had her first carrot today

My dogs love carrots and apples and bananas. They also like fresh peaches (who doesn't - yum!) and cantaloupe melon. I would much rather give these than over processed store bought doggie treats with low quality ingredients. My dogs do get treats like Canadae Snap biscuits and Old Mother Hubbard Peanut Butter biscuits.

Carrots are, also, great if you have a dog with a weight problem and you need a low calorie treat.

Carrots are an awesome treat. My crew loves them. They also many other fruits and veggies. In the summer I dump some frozen mixed veggies in their kiddie pool, they love to "dive" for them.
